What's Cooking Today? - Fried Pork Fillet with Chinese Celery and Okra with Turmeric and Dried Shrimps
#### Hi, welcome back to my **What's Cooking Today?** Today as usual, I cooked 2 simples, though one of them required quite a lot of my energy in stirring haha!

**So I cooked 2 dishes that are the favorite of my family.**

## Dish No. 1 - Pork Fillet Cooked with Chinese Celery

Pork fillet is one part of the pork that we use a lot in my home. It is soft and does not take a long cooking time. I like that it is very versatile for any type of cooking, It is also not fat nor too lean, so it is very flavourful and suitable for anyone observing a healthier diet. As for chinese celery, it is actually called soup leaves in our local Malay language. It will enhance the flavour of the dish,

👩‍🍳 Minced garlic
👩‍🍳 Minced shallots
👩‍🍳 500g pork fillet
👩‍🍳 Chinese celery
👩‍🍳 Seasonings

This is a very easy dish to cook. I like to marinate my meat for at least a good 20 minutes to let the flavours fuse in. Today I marinated it with light soy sauce, some chicken stock, oyster sauce and white pepper.



After 20 minutes, the cooking started. Just heat up the wok and then add in the minced garlic and shallots. Next add in the sliced pork fillets. Fry them and let them brown a little, cook till the reddish colour on the meat turns brown.

After that, add in the chopped chinese celery and stir them together for a while until some juice flow out from the meat to become the gravy of the dish.

## Dish No. 2: Pan Fried Okra with Turmeric and Dried Prawns

Okra or what is called *lady's finger* in our local language, is perhaps not a vegetable that everyone prefers because it has a slimy texture when we cook it and the slime may remain if we do not know how to cook it properly. Hence we need to take time to keep stirring it. It is surprisingly my son's favorite. 

***I needed:***

👩‍🍳 Dried prawns or shrimps
👩‍🍳 Okra
👩‍🍳 garlic
👩‍🍳 shallots
👩‍🍳 Turmeric powder
👩‍🍳 Seasonings



Okay firstly, we need to blend the dried shrimps together with the garlic and shallots till fine.

Next heat up in a non-stick pan. With previous experiences, I decided this round, I wanted to use the pan to avoid difficulty in washing later. The fragrance of the dried shrimps overtook and filled the whole kitchen by now.

After that, add in the okra and keep stir frying it, **Exercise the arm muscles and keep going till the slime has disappeared!** Be patient and it will soon change the texture to look soft too. That is when the okra is cooked.

Finally add in some Turmeric powder and salt to season.

Now it is ready to be served, yay!!

***These two dishes are very suitable to be served with steaming white rice. I always fail to resist the temptation of rice whenever these 2 dishes are cooked.
