### Its Hard Not To Think About The Future On A Blockchain Social Media Platform

I am on Steemit (obviously). My wife @nursejamie is on Steemit. And now my kids are on Steemit (kindof)

Allow me to elaborate.

### I used SteemConnect.com to set up Steemit accounts for my 2 kids.
* They are 9 and 5 years old.
* Are they allowed to have social media accounts yet?
* No they are not.

## Why Did I Do This?
### To Secure Their Accounts On The Blockchain.
* Today Steemit account creation is free. (or 6 steem with Steemconnect) But it is still in beta testing mode. Tomorrow or in the future it might not be. If Steem hits the $10 or even $20 dollar mark it might suddenly be a lot harder to open an account.
### As A Data Repository For Them For The Future.
* I have heard of parents opening an email account for their children and sending pictures to it to store indefinitely until they are older. This is somewhat the same idea but better being it is stored on the blockchain.
* Imagine 10 years (or more) of Steemit memories and pictures and family outings and blogs being at your fingertips for you and your children to relive anytime you like.
### As A Defacto Savings Account.
* Myself and their mother can send STEEM with ZERO transaction fees into their accounts for free.
* The STEEM will appreciate and could also earn interest
* They will be ahead of the game if/when SMTs take off and begin fueling other social media platforms.
### When They Are Old And Mature Enough They Can Assume Ownership Of Their Accounts And Explore The Steemisphere For Themselves

How truly futuristic is your thinking.  How often have so many people wished their parents or grandparents saw the future of the new technology of their day, and planned accordingly for their offspring.  I am one of those people.

So, I will do the same as you, and protect my children's future using the blockchain.  I want to make sure they have ways to participate in the cryptocurrency world, and not get left behind.
