한국에서는 투표 할 때가 찾아오면, 많은 사람들이 놀러갈 계획을 합니다. 아침 일찍 투표를 하고 놀러가는 경우도 있고 아예 투표를 하지 않고 놀러 가는 경우도 있습니다. 호주에서는 투표하는 날이 공휴일이 아닙니다. 거의 투표하는 날은 토요일입니다. 게다가 특별한 사유가 아니라면 투표에 참여하지 않을 권리는 없는 것 같습니다. 투표를 하지 않으면 나중에 벌금 고지서가 날아 옵니다. 예전에 투표가 있었는지도 모르고 있었는데, 몇 주 지나서 벌금 고지서를 받은 적이 있었습니다. $50 정도 했던것 같습니다. 한국과 비교해서 느슨한 삶을 살 수 있는 호주 이지만 많은 부분에서 한국과는 또 다르게 통제가 이루어 지는 부분도 있습니다.
