Pigeon is a common bird, you can see them in some large famous square. It usually eat cereal and has strong memory. 

But do you know why does everyone like to delivery letters using a homing pigeon  instead of other birds?

That's because there is a bump between the two eyes of the pigeons, which has a specific function, can measure the change of the earth's magnetic field, so as to determine the direction of home.

Pigeons can fly far away, its flight speed is fast, memory and vision are very good, pigeon has a very homesick behaviour.
No matter how far they fly, they want to return to their nests. Because of its fast speed, strong sense of direction and loving nest habit, these make pigeons become the preferred messenger by people.

However, not all the pigeons can deliver letters, only trained pigeons can do it.
A carrier pigeon, even if you take it to a strange place thousands of miles away, it also can find their way home.
But not any pigeons can do this, it is a kind of ability trained by people.

Since the carrier pigeon need to be trained to have the ability of delivery letters, so how to train a pigeon? 

Let the pigeons send letters, which is unlikely that where you want to let it fly, it will fly where you want to go just like in TV series. or you want to give letters to someone, it must give someone. Obviously, this is not true.

In fact, for exzample, If you want to let the pigeons send letters from A to B, you need to feed it in B for sometime when it is a child. when you need it to send letters, you can take it to A temporarily and after arriving in A, you let fly.  Using their talents, it will try to fly B.

It sounds very interesting! Since pigeon has been regarded as the messenger of peace, people hope it always bring good news.

So, even if there are other options, people prefer to rely on pigeons to deliver the message in underdeveloped ancient times.
