An unfortunately timed upgrade.

Rachel panted, having finally installed her new USB 3.0 card into her motherboard.

Her naked body was covered in sweat and dust, as she pulled herself up off the floor, and slid the computer case side-panel back onto the PC. It had been an ordeal, getting all those wires out of the way, but she absolutely required an upgrade.

"Thank goodness I've finally updated my machine."

But as she began walking away, a tiny orb of light appeared.
It began to open. A portal to a time before such advanced technologies.

Rachel jumped back, and started to run as tentacles emerged. Long, yellowish-green tendrils, each one covered by little suckers, and dripping ooze. She ran. They followed her, chasing her up the stairs of her basement. There was no end to the length of these tentacles.

She stumbled,  finally unable to run anymore, and the tentacles wrapped around her ankles and arms, and lifted her up off the floor.

The tentacles were dragging her backwards, down the stairs,

Tendrils began to wrap around her body, suckling her until she was squirming, more and more of them surrounding her, until she was pulled tight, and made completely helpless.

A long, slippery tentacle traced patterns onto her belly, until it sharply poked her.

Ouch. A USB port. 
Even worse, it was USB 1.1.

Rachel was upgraded, but with hardware already obsolete. 

And so was her PC.
