1968 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada
To start the week off right, there is nothing better than looking at the cars from a sale offered by **RM Sotheby's** (or any automobile auctionner, it works for me 😀). The International auction house will offering up a lot of great cars during its [The Guikas Collection sale](https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/jg21) the 19th November in Le Castellet (France), including this beautiful [**1968 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada**](https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/jg21/the-guikas-collection/lots/r0011-1968-bizzarrini-5300-gt-strada/) :

Le Castellet is home to the [Paul Ricard Circuit](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circuit_Paul_Ricard) (built in 1969 near Marseille thanks to Paul Ricard, French industrialist with his famous brand of pastis). And this is the perfect location for the sale of 75 racing and road cars (see the video in the bonus section at the end of this post) owned by **Jean Guikas**, collector and car dealer from Marseille (France). Stunning collection 1978 Alpine-Renault A442, 1967 Lola T70 MkIII de 1967, 1300 Abarth Simca 1300 GT Coupé and also more modern cars including 2001 Lister Storm GT , F1 Prost GP AP02, 1993 Jaguar XJ220 C 1993 or Audi R8 GT3 LMS... 🤑

# History of Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada

I had discovered this [**Bizzarrini**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bizzarrini
), Italian car manufacturer two years ago with the sale of a prototype, **1971 Bizzarrini 128P Barchetta** with its audacious design :

**Bizzarrini** founded in the 60's by [Giotto Bizzarrini](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giotto_Bizzarrini), one of the most renowned automotive engineers of all time working before for Alfa-Romeo and Ferrari. He worked also on the first V-12 for Lamborghini used in the 350 GT. He collaborated with [Renzo Rivolta](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renzo_Rivolta) (founder of Iso) in order to design the Iso A3C, it was the base of the Bizzarrini 5300 GT.

In 1964, Giotto Bizzarrini launched his version of the car with the [**Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bizzarrini_Strada) produced in 133 examples until 1968. It was the most successful car of the brand thanks to its design and its Chevrolet engine.

# Specification

The [**Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bizzarrini_Strada) is equipped with 5,358 cc Chevrolet 327 V8 engine mated to 4–speed BorgWarner T-10 manual. It can produce 365 hp for the road version and around 400 hp for the Corsa (racing car) with a **top speed of 200 kmh / 174 mph**.

This example is finished in a beautiful red over cream leather interior (it seems very confortable 😀). The price isn't yet indicated but the value trend has only increased in recent years (source : [hemmings.com](https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/1965-1968-bizzarrini-gt-5300-strada)) :

* 2000 : $US 180,000 
* 2004 : $US 205,000 
* 2008 : $US 490,000 
* 2012 : $US 460,000
