The Jacks Fork River - Photos From an April 2015 Float With My Son - Part One

Last night my daughter Jojo Bean and I were going through her old photos on her camera when I found a batch of them I had taken when I borrowed the memory card for a couple of floats on our beautiful Jacks Fork River here in the Ozarks.  
<br>
These were dated April of 2015 and mainly feature a float my son, who was 15 at the time, and I took alone.  I remember we started at an access called Buck Hollow and ended at Bluff View.  It's not a very long float.  2-3 hours.  More if you stop and explore, which we did!
<br>
We apparently also took Willie Nelson and Emma Jane with us.  They're great floating dogs.  They like to sit on the end of the kayak, or when the sun beats down, then crawl into the area my legs are supposed to go.  The Jacks Fork is a relaxing enough float that I usually keep my legs dangled over the sides of my kayak and just kick back.

April is the perfect time to float if you want to see a wide variety of spring wildflowers.  Plus with spring rains, the water level is high enough the kayaks and canoes don't drag too much!

Once we got to Bluff View and took the kayaks out of the water, there was still a couple of hours left until we were to be picked up.  We decided to explore the cave system near the area so we took a little hike.

That's a great trip! I like seeing all the wildflowers -- and those Redbud trees blooming on the far shore in the photo right under the Mertensia. Do you ever go fishing as you're floating down the river? Your dogs look like perfect kayak dogs -- 2 in 1 boat! : )

We have friends that fish while we float.  I'm not such a great fisherman and I'm usually too caught up in the beauty to try to concentrate on fishing.  Haha!  I'm going to post more from this trip, so keep an eye out!  :)
Willie and Emma have even flipped a few times with me and they STILL get in the kayak ready to go!
