My cats don't like catnip biscuits

I took my cat to the vet the other day to have her spayed. When she came back, I kinda forgot that she needs to eat soft foods for the meantime and that I am running out of wet food in cans so I ordered from the shop that offers free delivery nearby.

I ordered Whiskas (since that's the only thing they eat) and some cat litter and a tray. I saw they were also selling cat treats so I checked on them. I haven't bought any cat treats before, just haven't thought of it, so I don't know what to buy.

Since I can't go to the shop (cos I have no pass, can't get out of the house :/), I just picked what interests my eye. I haven't researched prior, but I just picked them randomly cos ain't nobody got time fo that. xD

I picked the Sanabelle treats and Catnip Biscuits from Bioline. I was excited to receive it cos I have seen cats on videos get crazy with catnips. It's like a drug to them. I mean, it's a cat biscuit but it says it has catnip on them so why not try it. ( ͡❛ ᴗ ͡❛)

I first opened the Sanabelle and they liked it. It has a really strong and tasty smell that even I get tempted to try LOL so no wonder they liked it.

Then I gave one of my cats the catnip biscuit. She smelled it first but just ignored it after. Like EXCUSE ME WHAT THE HELL? XD

I then broke it in half to let her smell the inside but still ignored it. I was shookt!! My cats are very picky with what they eat and sometimes what I do is put the food inside their mouth to just let the tongue have a taste of it. Most of the time they realize they actually like it once they have tasted it. So I let her taste the catnip biscuit and guess what.. She still didn't like it lol.

I tried this to other cats as well but they had the same reaction. They just ignored. WTF is going on haha! <(｀^´)>

I even gave some to the strays (I feed them as well so they are friendly to me) but they still didn't like it. What the heeellll.

#### The internet says...

I researched why they might not like it and it turns out not all cats react similarly to catnip. Some might like it, some might not. And it is mainly due to their genes. I'm not sure if genes = breed but I guess they just don't have the genes to have sensitivity to it. 

I have domestic short hair cats or the ones you commonly see in Philippine streets lol so I don't know if all cats of the same breed have the same reactions. 

Well, the catnip biscuits are still full and nobody likes them. :( So I don't know what to do with them.

Maybe I can try offering it to stray dogs who come nearby to eat as well? xD

Hahaha picky cats. Maybe they would go crazy after the real deal, 100% organic freshly harvested catnip? 😂 I had cats too and I can agree that some cat food can smell so yummy that it is almost hard to believe they make it for animals lol.

Does she like Gourmet? That is the fanciest cat food, or royal.

I don't know if you can find catnip seeds and plant them in a pot and see. Just for fun😂😂

I think cats are generally different and the fact that your cat didn't like that biscuit might show that it's either a different breed or like you said it's a gene thing. The people that manufacture the biscuit will know that not all cat will like that biscuit you know. But well have you still tried giving it to the cat again even after they rejected it?

Isn't the catnip high supposed to be like being in heat for them? Which might explain why they aren't interested right now. Maybe store them amin air tight container and try giving in a few weeks to see if any change :)

Haha lovely post! My puppy is also a little special guy. She is the most greedy dog which I ever have seen, and her favorite treat is her own kibbles, as dry and without any side dish. Like, she prefer them than some delicious looking dog biscuits or others. I really don't know what went wrong with her :D Animals are sometimes weird and quite surprising.

You have cats? I don't remember you shared them here. Anyway, I love all animals, but cats are so indifferent. Like they don't care about you when they don't need you. Once they're hungry they will bug you as if they rule over your life.

I have a dog. Dogs tend to reciprocate your affection a hundred fold so I prefer to have someone that wags its tail when I get home. With cats, they wouldn't care. 😂

Yeah I do. I shared only once or twice, but I never shared much of my life in general anyway, more of art and my perspective about things, etc..
Cats really just don't care. Like mine. I have one that doesn't like being touched. Haha. But I prefer cats since I dogs have too much energy, I prefer a silent one.
