# The team at BitGreen announced that backed by the BitGreen community, they will be supporting the fight against COVID-19, in partnership with theFolding@Home network.

## What is Folding@Home? 
Folding@home is a decentralized network of volunteer computers tasked with providing crucial computing power for scientists researching therapeutics to the world’s deadliest maladies. Mapping out diseases (“folding”) and finding cures requires computing resources far beyond what most research labs have at their disposal. And so, Folding@home software is designed to allow anyone to volunteer their unused computer power to the cause.
 
The Folding@home software ensures that your daily life isn’t hampered by having your computer connected to the network. So, while you keep going on with your everyday activities, you’ll actually be contributing to the effort of finding cures for diseases like cancer, ALS, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, COVID-19, influenza, and many others.
 
## What is BitGreen and Their Community Doing?
BitGreen has launched a folding initiative for the project and has put out an open invitation for all altruistic individuals to join. The foundation will reward any volunteer who joins the BitGreen team in BITG for their help. Currently the BitGreen initiative is in the top 1% among Folding@Home teams. 

The technology for the rewards system is open source, and the first-ever allowing any cryptocurrency project to directly reward Folders with whatever token they choose without changes needed to their blockchain. BitGreen hopes that other crypto projects will join them in incentivizing the global community to contribute to finding a cure for Covid19.  
 
## How You Can Participate in the Folding@Home Initiative and Earn BitG from the BitGreen Foundation?
To join the effort, you simply need to install and run Folding@Home, and be sure to join the BitGreen team (ID: 251327), by following the instructions here. If you don’t already have one, you’ll need to also set up BITG wallet, where you’ll be sent your reward. As you earn credits for folding, you’ll be automatically sent BITG to your wallet.
