Its a currency that is supposed to airdrop 99% of their tokens, if they didn't do that they wouldn't stay true to their own principals no matter what the "holders" are thinking.

Most cryptos have gone down anyway, considering "holders" and buyers know that the airdrop is happening right now this is when they buy the coins cheap of the dumpers.

Stepping back and taking the 1000-mile overview, this seems like *yet another* fine example of someone with good intentions completely failing to accurately assess the HUGE crowd of people "Money For Nothing Seekers" in our world... people who will swoop in like vultures to manipulate and rape ANY kind of "gifting." 

I think it's just basic human nature @hilarski. Think of what happens when you toss a handful of coins into a crowd on a street: Massive scrambling and even fighting ensues... even by people for whom a few pennies and dimes have *no material impact* on their lives.

The price as come down, but I don't think it was all due to the airdrop. Probably the timing of the airdrop makes conclusions like this happen, but the reality is that the markets are putting a lot of pressure on every coin to go down.

In my modest opinion, I think it was a huge success for Byteball, especially because they raised their numbers considerably and that was their main goal with the airdrop.

But ye, definitely the rules of economics always verify themselves, no matter the market or the product!

 It's not the first their airdrop, I think they know what they are doing. Previously they had 10 (?) airdrops for Bitcoin and Byteball holders and such a price fall was seen not the first time.

It really depends on what you care about as a crypto project. I suppose Byteball want a wider distribution of their coin, so they've been airdropping a lot of bytes for quite some time. I guess the hopes associated with this would be that some of the people receiving free money would use it instead of selling immediately, and at least any airdrop increases the visibility of the coin.

In addition, Bitcoin dropped a bit in that time which also dragged down Byteball accordingly.

Support the idea behind the coin, not just how many _free_ tokens you will get, not surprised, crash and burn will happen to many before becoming a stable coin.

It will grow back steady! Byteball did the same airdrops in the past and it still reached $800.

I will hold on to mine.  Doing my part to keep the distribution as broad as possible.  They were free anyway.

I sold some of mine as I had some uses for it, but the rest is locked up for a year. I saw the price dropped a bit, but nobody knows where things will be in a year.

Did you put any research into your post?

Current drop in GBYTE price has nothing to do with the airdrop, the airdrop started 25 days ago on 12th June.
People were able to spend only 50% of the airdrop because another 50% is vesting in smart-contract and most of the spendable Bytes were probably cashed out during first 2 weeks (you can see increase of volume around 17th June). 
Also, most of the attestations (45 000) happened during the first 2 weeks during which the [price of GBYTE was actually going up](https://twitter.com/ByteballOrg/status/1021774505688137729). Price was even going up on 29th June when [50 000 Steemians had attested their account](https://twitter.com/ByteballOrg/status/1023655159761719298).
It has been only past week when the price has going down, during which [8000 more out of 58 000 have attested](https://byteball.co/attestors) and it has nothing to do with the airdrop because the all crypto markets have been going down during past week.

I'm not sure the airdrop did all that much damage to the price, but the alt bear market definitely dragged every coin down.

I agree that a lot of people just sold right away, but it dropped 25% in value, the same as a lot of other coins over the same time. Look at how much Steem has dropped over the same amount of time. At least they are trying to do something to get their name out there and giving Steem holders free money is certainly something I'm not going to disagree with. Having 50% locked into a smart contract also helps to keep everyone from selling everything at once.
