Can Rewards Affect You In A Negative Way?

Okay, we all know that distribution is one of the hottest topics, or at least one of the things people complain about the most. People feel that they are rewarded less than they should, less than they believe they are worth and many users are angry, sad and disappointed because they see- and often compare themselves with the top authors... These types of discussions where regularly over on Steem as well, and I have personally talked about this too. More than once.

However, this time, I figured we'd do things **differently.**

As someone who actually had **insane** luck and was rewarded handsomely when I first started out on Steem, I have sort of seen "both sides of the fence" and I am curious to know if others have ever thought in the same lines.

I personally believe that it actually could be **bad** for me to become well-rewarded on **everything** I post, because I think I would stumble and fall due to the underlying pressure it would automatically build up.

If I started to see $50, $100 or whatever regularly, on everything I posted, I am pretty sure that I would eventually start to **expect** those results at all times... And if those rewards would eventually **stop** coming my way, I think that I would end up in a pretty bad situation. Motivation-wise.

I mean, I want somewhere to go. I want to be able to advance and "level up" so to speak. I want to reach new heights, and sure, that is obviously doable as I can always power up and grow my account... But I think I would want more than that in such a scenario.

I honestly think that the "thrill" of pushing out new content would vanish, and along with that, the motivation to produce things as well. Eventually.

Yes the reward can effect you in a negative way. I am just recalling the time when Steem was above $5 and almost everyone seem to be getting good rewards. Once the bear phase started we have seen people going from the platform thinking its the end. 

This can happen to people now also even in HIVE if they dont get reward which they used to get before. Say for example someone got $5 for almost every post and now they dont even get $0.5 they will soon try to stop posting.

So you think $ is what (or a main factor) motivates people to be active and produce content?

Might be not for all, but for most of them it does motivates to write more so that they can earn more.

the only things the rewards do is to give people dreams and hope. They don't understand fully how the economics here does work. Mhh did I say economics, I do mean ...
