---

[Ask The Hive](https://hive.blog/trending/hive-173737) is pretty dope. It is simple and effective. Real engagement, cool answers and room for discussion in literally every question asked. My previous questions had good results in terms of comments. Actually, really great results compared to most of my other content.

So, let's try another question:

Do You Support Users
Who Are Cashing Out/Powering Down?

**Does It Matter?**

This is a no brainer for me personally. I vote on whoever regardless of their current stake or status. I think that Hive is an amazing place were people can get rewarded for their contributions, and I wouldn't want everyone to power up and invest straight back into Hive. I **want** people to cash out, power down and use rewards in real life. That is where they will do the most good.

That being said, it would be a different story if I had **huge** impact on the rewards. If my votes were worth a lot. I wouldn't want to support users on a regular basis if I knew that they were cashing out everything, at all times.

I vote on posts I like regardless of power down. However, if they are cashing out and have a terrible or bitter attitude, I will probably not be voting on their 'screw u guys' posts.

Of course I do. I'm powering down as well thanks to this elite orchestrated financial crisis because I really need cash and have no other alternative. The way I see it, when someone upvotes my content does that for the value it helds on this platform and not for what I'm doing with the tokens. Side note: I wouldn't power down if there wasn't this world pandemic affecting me. Great topic by the way.

One of the primary things for Hive/Steem is the rewards, it is not a reward if people are not allowed to use the rewards. Like you, I don't care, I doubt I will care even if I had a huge impact on rewards, If I like the content it gets a vote, if I don't it doesn't.

That is true, but on the other hand, Hive shouldn't something people depend on. I mean, people should try to get a different income so they can finance their living expenses etc. And use Hive more like a "bonus" according to me.

That being said, I do know that some things are crazy and that life happens so to speak, so Hive could potentially be the rescue fund. The life line. I don't mind that at all.

On **HIVE** content should be king regardless what users do with their stake. There is a reason for people to sell or to buy. There are many who use hive to eat and put food on their tables. It's relative. Cheers bro.

I totally agree with you. We have a wonderful opportunity to actually change peoples lives in various ways. Both financially, but also in other ways with our community. Content should- and probably always have been considered to be "what we need" and "what we should reward", but along the way, through our ups & downs, I feel that we somehow got lost on the path.

Good question.

The answer is: yes.

What other people do with their earnings is their business. I have no rule against supporting users who cash out some or all of their earnings. I may be willing to support those who power up and support others more, though.

I agree with what you said. What people do with their earnings is their business. Judging from posts I've read in the past, there seems to be people out there only willing to support users who are "building", and cashing out doesn't seem to fit in that category. That's why I asked. :D

I don't really care what users are doing... I honestly never check whether they are powering down/cashing out. I reward what I think is worth rewarding, simple as that.

I never powered down myself, until a couple of weeks ago. I'll be stopping my power down on Hive on Tuesday, but I did power down about half of my stake. I had my reasons for it; I assume most people who PD have their own...

Both of you are a positive minority. Unfortunately. Most of the Steem blockchain and Hive blockchain users are not supporting others.

I power down because of the lack of support and engagement from others, no matter what I do, what I try, what I post, what I write about. I support others, I upvote both automatically and manually, but people simply do not care about my posts. Not even about my Steem Monsters/Splinterlands giveaways. And I am not alone. Most of the Steem blockchain and Hive blockchain users are selfish and greedy. They focus only on their own posts, but they do not care about other people's posts. The real comments are rare both on the Steem blockchain and on the Hive blockchain. Most of the Steem blockchain and Hive blockchain posts are ignored/overlooked. They are too many content creators, but almost no content consumers. This leads to many disappointed users, who eventually leave the platform. This is why the user retention of these blockchains are so bad. The Steem blockchain and the Hive blockchain could be literally life changing for everyone, but most of the users do not co-operate with each other. Most of the people are ruining both of the blockchains with their selfishness and greed. Most of the users are not grown up to this technology.

@steemflow ·
I have a question,, while we are supporting anyone, do we tend to see their wallet or the history if they are powering down or not ???Personally, I never do that...what I like I simply Upvote and support.

@steevc ·
I don't generally care what they are doing if the content is good. Some people really need some extra cash to buy necessities. It was brought home to me when someone at Steemfest 2 said average monthly income in Venezuela was $5!

There are some people who try to milk the system without adding value. Some use likwid to get the Steem immediately to take out or buy more votes. They would not get my support. I am all about building the real community.

$0.03
Yeah, it's crazy to hear stuff like that. I know that minimum wage were down to $2 per month last year in Venezuela. Just imagine what Hive could do for Venezuela. It's crazy to think about, but it feels like we have a chance to change the entire country to some extent.

$2. That's basically a litre of milk in Sweden.

It's good to see people from there like @dreamrafa to make a nice amount on a guitar video and he's really talented. I'd rather support him than some whale who cries that they need another 'Lambo'. Not that we have too many of those. They just need more options for converting to fiat. Cannot get debit cards like Wirex there.

Both the Steem blockchain and the Hive blockchain could be life changing for many people (including me) (I am not Venezuelan, but Hungarian), but this life changing aspect completely depends on the users, and looks like most of the users do not like to support others.
