Estrenada en 2005, *The Dying Gaul* es un drama de una hora con cuarenta y cinco minutos de duración que narra la historia de Robert Sandrich (Peter Sarsgaard), un hombre en proceso de divorcio, con un hijo y que recientemente se sinceró consigo mismo acerca de su orientación sexual. Robert tiene aspiraciones de ser un guionista de Hollywood y el guion de la película que presentó a una agencia de producción se titula exactamente como la obra misma.
>Premiered in2005, *The Dying Gaul* is a one hour and forty-five LGBT drama that tells the story of Robert Sandrich (Peter Sarsgaard), a man who is in divorce process, has a son and had recently got honest to himself about his sexual orientation. Robert has the dream of being a screenplay writer in Hollywood and had sent a script of a movie to an agency and the name of the script is the same name of the movie.

Jeffrey Tishop es el productor que le aceptó el guion y durante la cita que tienen, le confiesa que el trabajo es muy bueno, solo que no mucha gente se atrevería a ir a ver una película con dos hombres en una relación homosexual por lo que le pide a Robert que cambie de género a uno de los personajes. Esto hace molestar a Robert ya que eso cambia la esencia de su trabajo pues la historia de su guion está basada en su relación con su fallecido amante Malcom.
>Jeffrey Tishop is the producer who accepted the script and in the meeting they have, he tells the story is good but that not too many people would dare to enter a theatre to see a movie like that with two men in an homosexual relationship so he asks Robert to switch the gender of one of the characters. This upsets Robert because this changes the main idea of his work and, in addition, the story is based of his experience with his recently dead boyfriend Malcom.

Al ver la cantidad de dinero que le ofrece Jeffrey por el guion y, viendo que así podría pagar muchas de sus deudas, Robert acepta. A partir de entonces, su vida toma un giro diferente. Jeffrey le presenta a su esposa a Robert. Elaine y Jeffrey son amables con él. Lo tratan como si fuese un niño al que hay que educar para que aprenda a vivir dentro de esa industria. Robert acepta sus atenciones y consejos.
Tanto Jeffrey como Elaine se sienten atraídos por Robert, pero cada uno de diferente manera. Elaine se hace un perfil en el grupo de chat favorito de Robert para verlo desde otra perspectiva y saber más cosas de él. Robert cae en la trampa que ella la pone y le cuenta cosas que jamás le diría. Entre ellas, la aventura que está teniendo con Jeffrey.
>When he hears the amount of money he would get for the script and realizing he would be able to pay most of his debts, Robert agrees. In this point, his life gets a different turn. Jeffrey introduces Robert to his wife, Elaine. The two of them are kind to him and treat him as if he was a kid they got to raise so he would learn who to live in that world. Elaine and Jeffrey are feeling attraction to him but in a different way. Elaine creates a profile in Robert´s favorite chatroom to have another view of him and learn more about him. Robert talks to Elaine thinking she is just another gay man in the chatroom and tells her things he would never say to her, as he is having an affair with Jeffrey among them.

Esta película fue justo lo que yo esperaba que fuera. Los actores se lucieron y la historia fue cien por ciento creíble.
Me sorprendió lo psicológicamente fuerte que era el personaje de Patricia Clarkson: aguantar todo el malestar para soltarlo delicadamente sin hacer mucho alboroto. En cuanto a Jeffrey, -interpretado por Campbell Scott- si usted es consciente de la lucha de las personas de la comunidad LGBT, entenderá porqué mantuvo su orientación sexual como un secreto y su forma de proceder.
>This movie was what I expected it to be. The actors did a great job and the story was one hundred percent believable. I was surprised of how psychologically strong Patricia Clarkson´s character is, holding on all the rage to released it without making a big riot. And about Jeffrey –played by Campbell Scott- if you are aware of the struggle the people of the LGBT community have gone through, you will understand why he concealed his sexual orientation and the way he proceeded to build his life.
