I would be able to agree if we're talking about individual attacks. So, for example, if a person tells someone else to do something that they know would actually result in their death or physical injury. Also, fraud is illegal and punished, because in this situation someone tells another something untrue in order to trick them out of their own money. Society punishes these intentional offenses and should. 

My point on free speech as much more to do with ideologies. Many world views are absolutely in conflict with each other, but they all have the right to have their world views. We should never oppress people by trying to prevent people from having their own opinions and beliefs. They should also have the right to express them, though we also have the right to ignore them. 

A lot of people encourage tolerance, but I notice that more and more often this *tolerance* is not for everyone, only certain ideologies. That's wrong, we should be tolerant to every view, but not required to agree with any specific view. The darkest times in history are when movements become forceful and intolerant to any other viewpoint. Words such as heretic and witch were used in the past, today we have many new terms, but the worst people of those times were not the "heretics" or the "witches" but those calling them by those names. 

Tolerance is key, open discussion should be welcome, but no one should ever be obligated to listen to anyone else. Nobody needs to like my opinions, agree with me or even listen to them, but I should always be allowed to have my opinions and to express them.
