The domain .bit exists on the Namecoin blockchain and can be resolved to an top-level domain such as .com and .org.

Using dotbit.me a user can register any available .bit address and pay for registration using USD or any of the multiple types of cryptocurrency. There is also an on-line forum and a section to post .bit addresses for sale for either bitcoin or namecoin.
