Hackers inject malicious into Gentoo GitHub Repo
Gentoo Linux Distro is a Linux Distro which put in all its code in GitHub repository (makes it an open source), which only requires people to download, compile it for their usage with less experience. 
You can fork the Repo and modified the codes to your taste if you are an OS programmer. 
Despite the fact Gentoo Linux is doing this to Linux lovers, some bad actors Blackhat hackers have managed to infiltrate the Repo with malicious codes and infected it with malware.

This incidence happened on the 28th of June at about 20:20 UTC. If you had downloaded the OS between this time, consider it compromised and get rid of it to be on a safer side.

Gentoo Linux developers reported they are still working to extort out the bad codes infected in the OS repository.
  >  “We are still working to determin.e the exact extent and to regain control of the organization and its repositories,” the statement reads. The hackers “modified the content of repositories as well as pages there.”

#### Code hosted on Gentoo official infrastructure is safe
Before panicking! we should know Gentoo would have it OS codes backed up in its private backup server/drive meaning that;

> OS codes hosted on Gentoo’s own infrastructure, which is the masted Gentoo build repo, is SAFE; the code hosted on GitHub is just a mirror.
