He began to read about the cherubs in an attempt to better understand the meaning of the image and perhaps in that way arrive at some firm clue.

He learned that they are one of several types of angels, a kind of intermediaries between God and men but created by what they are not worshiped. He also discovered that there are good and bad angels, the bad ones serve Satan.

And finally, he found something interesting, the putti. They are figures of naked and winged children that are highly evoked by Renaissance artists in their works of art, be it these sculptures or paintings. These figures are usually confused with cherubs, it is something frequent and precisely the confusion comes from the fact that the differences are not well explained. Perhaps the monument was not a tomb, now he had to find where it was located if it was a cemetery or another place.

Several months passed and he felt more alive than ever, the investigation had given him a powerful reason to enjoy life, he read, he searched the internet. Who would have thought? Blanquita had a lot to do with her transformation, she taught her new things every day and had even encouraged herself to use her smartphone beyond a sporadic call.

The solution to the mystery of the cherubs came almost by chance.

The son of the "Galician" Urrutia, a former classmate who went to live in Spain in the 90s, came to visit him from Europe. He brought him the news that his father had died a few months before, among the trunk of memories that He left found some letters and photographs, some very old from a trip to the province of Córdoba when they were in 3rd grade. year of high school. He knew they were close friends and he couldn't think of another person to visit and talk about his father. Among several things that he brought her as a gift was a photo that immediately caught his attention and the memory came to his memory. It had been there, in Embalse Río Tercero, on a visit to a museum where they took these and other photographs, including one of the cherubs.

He searched the Internet again and found the place and the explanation of the statue, it was not a sarcophagus but just a simple ornament developed by a local artist that served together with others to decorate the beautiful gardens where the museum was located.

A little hint of sadness invaded him, the investigation was over. But not for long, among the old photographs that Urrutia's son left him, there were two that promptly caught his attention, one of a collapsed building, similar to an old castle and the other of another classmate, "Tom" Ferrari. , of whom he had found out, disappeared without leaving a trace during the compulsory military service that existed in the country in those years.

He immediately called Blanquita, it didn't take long to convince her to help him with his new and exciting research.

Comenzó a leer sobre los querubines en un intento de comprender mejor el significado de la imagen y quizás de esa manera llegar a alguna pista firme.

Aprendió que son uno de varios tipos de ángeles, una especie de intermediarios entre Dios y los hombres pero creados por lo que no son adorados. También descubrió que existen ángeles buenos y malos, los malos sirven a Satanás. 

Y finalmente encontró algo interesante, los putti.  Son figuras de niños desnudos y alados muy evocadas por los artistas renacentistas en sus obras de arte, ya fueran estas esculturas o pinturas. Estas figuras suelen ser confundidas con los querubines, es algo frecuente y justamente la confusión viene de que no están bien explicadas las diferencias. Quizás el monumento no fuera un sepulcro, ahora debía encontrar donde estaba ubicado, si era un cementerio u otro lugar.

Pasaron varios meses y se sentía más vivo que nunca, la investigación le había devuelto una razón poderosa para disfrutar de la vida, leía, buscaba en internet. Quién lo hubiera dicho!, Blanquita tuvo mucho que ver en su transformación, todos los días le enseñaba cosas nuevas y hasta se había animado a utilizar el teléfono inteligente más allá de alguna llamada esporádica.

La solución al misterio de los querubines llegó casi por casualidad. 

Vino a visitarlo de Europa el hijo del “gallego” Urrutia, un ex compañero de la escuela que se fue a vivir a España en los años 90. Le traía la noticia que su padre había muerto unos meses antes, entre el baúl de recuerdos que dejó encontró algunas cartas y fotografías, unas muy viejas de un viaje a la provincia de Córdoba, cuando estaban en 3er. año de la secundaria. Sabía que eran muy amigos y no se le ocurrió otra persona a quien visitar y conversar sobre su padre. Entre varias cosas que le trajo de regalo había una foto que llamó su atención inmediatamente y el recuerdo vino a su memoria. Había sido allí, en Embalse Río Tercero, en una visita a un museo donde tomaron esas y otras fotografías, incluida la de los querubines.

Volvió a buscar en la Internet y encontró el lugar y la explicación de la estatua, no era un sarcófago sino solo un simple ornamento desarrollado por un artista local que servía junto a otros para decorar los bellos jardines donde estaba emplazado el museo.

Le invadió un pequeño dejo de tristeza, la investigación había concluido. Pero no por mucho tiempo, entre las viejas fotografías que le dejó el hijo de Urrutia había dos que prontamente llamaron su atención, una de una construcción derruida, parecida a un antiguo castillo y la otra de otro compañero de la escuela,  “Tom” Ferrari, de quien se había enterado desapareció sin dejar rastros durante el servicio militar obligatoria que existía en el país por aquellos años.

Inmediatamente llamó a Blanquita, no le costó mucho convencerla para que lo ayudara con sus nuevas y excitantes investigaciones.
