En el día de ayer se disputaron los dos encuentros por las semifinales de un mundial que se nos va rápidamente. Parece mentira que apenas un par de meses atrás recién se confirmaba la noticia sobre la quita de la sede a Indonesia y su organización por parte de la AFA de nuestro país. Algo impensado y fuera de tiempo y lugar, sin embargo aquí estamos y dentro del apuro todo marcha muy bien en cuanto a lo organizativo.

Por supuesto en el aspecto futbolístico quedará mucha tela para cortar y pese a que estoy un tanto decepcionado por el nuevo fracaso de nuestros juveniles debo reconocer que ni siquiera debimos disputar el torneo.

Este ha sido el mundial de las sorpresas, Francia eliminado en primera vuelta y Gambia ganando su grupo, Inglaterra y Argentina eliminado en octavos, Brasil eliminado en cuartos por Israel. Una debacle para varios de los principales animadores de cualquier torneo internacional en los que se presentan. 

Sin embargo las cosas se acomodaron para la final, se dio a mi entender la lógica y los triunfadores de las semifinales fueron Italia que le ganó a Corea del Sur por 2 a 1 y Uruguay quien dio cuenta de la cenicienta: Israel, por 1 a 0.

Lamentablemente no pude ver a Uruguay por superposición con mis horarios laborales aunque estuve atento a la marcha del encuentro, si vi a Italia y les puedo asegurar que Corea del Sur hizo méritos para al menos ir al alargue pero un tiro libre perfectamente ejecutado a diez minutos del final del encuentro volcó el resultado que a la postre sería definitivo.

Más allá de los merecimientos y cualidades de cada uno, llegaron al encuentro definitorio dos equipos que por historia y tradición en mayores tenían chances aunque para mi había otros superiores en el análisis previo, pero como esto se trata de fútbol, "la dinámica de lo impensado" lo llamó Dante Panzeri, un prestigioso periodista deportivo local en el año 1967, todo puede suceder dentro de un campo de juego, Uruguay e Italia definirán al próximo campeón mundial Sub 20.

Dije hace unos días que luego de la eliminación de nuestra selección me inclinaba por Uruguay, no porque su juego me hubiera deslumbrado sino porque tengo simpatía por los "charrúas", un término que identifica a un pueblo nativo de América del Sur cuya ubicación geográfica estaba situada en Uruguay y parte de la provincia argentina de Entre Ríos así como el sur de Brasil, por alguna razón ese término de identificación étnica quedó en manos exclusivas de los uruguayos y así solemos llamarlos de este lado del Río de la Plata, por supuesto con cariño y de forma amistosa.

Ahora que escribo esto pienso que quizás antropológicamente hablando esa simbiosis de nuestros antepasados sean el hilo conductor que nos lleve a determinar que futbolísticamente tenemos algunas dotes similares que han llevado a la conquista de 10 títulos mundiales entre los tres. No lo se, por supuesto, solo es una idea que se me acaba de ocurrir y probablemente no tenga ningún fundamento ni asidero.

Volviendo al tema estrictamente futbolístico, mis simpatías están por Uruguay aunque debo reconocer que mis ancestros italianos también me han inculcado alguna predilección por los "tanos" y si no estuvieran presentes en esa final nuestros hermanos del otro del Río, seguramente preferiría a la azzurra por encima de cualquier otro que no fuera la albiceleste.

Veremos que ocurre el domingo, gane quien gane estaré contento porque siempre que hay una fiesta del fútbol como lo es un mundial, hay que disfrutarlo y alegrarse.

#### Under 20 World Cup, we have finalists

Yesterday the two matches were played for the semi-finals of a world cup that is leaving us quickly. It seems incredible that just a couple of months ago the news about the removal of the headquarters to Indonesia and its organization by the AFA of our country was recently confirmed. Something unexpected and out of time and place, however here we are and within the rush, everything is going very well in terms of organization.

Of course, in the football aspect, there will be a lot of cloth to cut and although I am somewhat disappointed by the new failure of our youth players, I must admit that we should not even have played in the tournament.

This has been the world cup of surprises, France was eliminated in the first round and Gambia won their group, England and Argentina were eliminated in the round of 16, and Brazil was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Israel. A debacle for several of the main animators of any international tournament in which they appear.

However, things settled for the final, the logic was given to me and the winners of the semifinals were Italy, who beat South Korea 2-1, and Uruguay, who gave an account of Cinderella: Israel, 1-1. 0.

Unfortunately, I could not see Uruguay due to overlapping with my working hours, although I was attentive to the progress of the match, I did see Italy and I can assure you that South Korea made merits to at least go to extra time but a perfectly executed free kick ten minutes away At the end of the match, he overturned the result that would ultimately be final.
