Today marks 22 years since the first version of the Google search engine came out, a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then and now we see this computer giant dominating various aspects of people's lives.

I remember at the beginning of the internet there were few known web pages, communications were bad, slow and with frequent cuts, at that time those first websites specialized in searching the inner world of the web for what they began to come to light. people needed.

Among the first that come to mind are Altavista, Magellán, Firefox, Yahoo, Lycos, and of course Google, some no longer exist and others have been converted into something else or at least the search for information on the web is no longer their main objective.

I do not remember the exact sequence of appearance of each one of them but if they were quite limited, they did not have the accuracy or sophistication of algorithms that are observed in them today.

But of all of them, the one that grew the most was precisely the one that is now celebrating its birthday, not only perfected the search algorithms but also developed others based on artificial intelligence that are now used daily to offer us products and services based on our searches, profile and activity.

I don't know if that is good if I know that sometimes it scares me to observe the level they have reached, how they can direct advertisements, notes and photographs, among other things, to what we want or do not want to obtain.

I know that it is a technological advance that cannot be stopped, although many governments are already looking at and even developing laws and other forms of restrictions to prevent us from being definitely dominated by this type of software. Although I also know that many of those same governments use the services and methods of these companies for their own benefit, a very sensitive one that of elections.

These are the times that run and I hope that the balance arrives somehow, too much progress has been made in these 22 years.

Hoy se cumplen 22 años desde que salió la primera versión del buscador Google, ha pasado mucha agua bajo el puente desde entonces y ahora vemos a este gigante de la informática dominando varios aspectos de la vida de las personas.

Recuerdo en los comienzos de la internet eran pocas las páginas web conocidas, las comunicaciones eran malas, lentas y con cortes frecuentes, en esa época comenzaron a salir a la luz esas primeras webs especializadas en buscar en el mundo interior de la web aquello que l gente necesitaba.

Entre los primeros que vienen a mi mente estan Altavista, Magellán, Firefox, Yahoo, Lycos y por supuesto Google, algunos ya no existen y otros se reconvirtieron en otra cosa, o al menos la búsqueda de información en la web ya no es su principal objetivo.

No recuerdo la secuencia exacta de aparición de cada uno de ellos pero si que eran bastante limitados, no tenían la exactitud ni la sofisticación de algoritmos que hoy en día se observa en ellos.

Pero de todos el que más creció fue justamente el que ahora está cumpliendo años, no solamente perfeccionó los algoritmos de búsqueda sino que desarrolló otros basados en la inteligencia artificial que ahora son cotidianamente usados para ofrecernos productos y servicios basados en nuestras búsquedas, perfil y actividad.

Yo no se si eso es bueno, si se que en ocasiones me asusta observar el nivel que han alcanzado, como pueden dirigir publicidades, notas y fotografías, entre otras cosas, a lo que nosotros queremos o no queremos obtener.

Se que es un avance tecnológico que no se puede parar aunque ya muchos gobiernos están mirando y hasta desarrollando leyes y otras formas de restricciones para evitar que definitivamente seamos dominados por este tipo de software. Aunque también se que muchos de esos mismos gobiernos utilizan los servicios y métodos de estas compañías para beneficio propio, uno muy sensible el de las elecciones.

Son los tiempos que corren y espero que el equilibrio llegue de alguna manera, demasiado se ha avanzado en estos 22 años.
