Llega fin de año y uno hace un repaso de muchas cosas, en las que nos fue bien y en las que no tanto. También suelo acompañar esos pensamientos con algunas conclusiones respecto de mis propios gustos y actitudes, para encontrarme con mis raíces y analizar el porqué de algunas acciones, comportamientos y satisfacciones o disgustos.

Esta vez le tocó la revisión al tema deportes, mi esposa dice que si tuviera una señal de cable con solo los canales deportivos yo sería la persona más feliz del mundo y creo que tiene cierta razón. 

Los deportes me gustaron desde siempre, el fútbol por supuesto, conozco pocos argentinos a los que no les gusta este deporte y no es porque aquí hayan nacido Maradona y Messi, bueno no en general. Tengo la edad suficiente como para haber nacido antes que esos dos enormes referentes de este deporte y me gustó desde entonces, uno de los recuerdos de niño era jugar con una pelota en la plaza frente a la casa de mi abuela materna, con amigos, con mis hermanos más pequeños, disfrutaba muchísimo de esos partidos donde los arcos eran un par de prendas y el resto imaginación, como cuando alguien pateaba y la pelota pasaba por encima del arquero, el equipo que atacaba gritaba Gooool! y los contrarios decían Alto!, como si el balón hubiera pasado por encima del travesaño inexistente.

La pesca es otro deporte que me apasiona, quizás muchos no lo consideran deporte pero para mí tiene muchas de las características que resaltamos en las actividades deportivas, entre mi padre y mi abuela me inculcaron esa pasión por la caña y la tanza, creo que tenía 5 o 6 años cuando luego de pasar el día disfrutando del agua en las bellas playas de Punta Lara buscaba mi cañita mojarrera y me dedicaba un buen rato a pescar esos pequeños peces, los juntaba para que mi abuela me los hiciera fritos.

En la escuela aprendí a jugar y disfrutar de varias actividades deportivas, algunas desconocidas hasta ese momento, practiqué softbol, handbol, basquetbol, gimnasia y en días de lluvia o frío intenso jugaba billar en sus diversas variantes, metegol, tenis de mesa y otros que ya no recuerdo. Las escuelas salesianas de aquella época le daban una gran importancia al aspecto deportivo.

Con el basquetbol no me llevaba muy bien, por mi altura no me parecía que fuera para mí, pero una cosa es jugarlo y otra verlo. Cuando aparecieron Ginóbili y la generación dorada, medalla de oro en los juegos olímpicos, campeones del mundo y la NBA para varios y los Spurs y sus varios anillos de campeón, otra vez estaba ahí, prendido de la TV.

En mi primer viaje por trabajo a los Estados Unidos conocí al beisbol y al fútbol americano y la conexión fue inmediata, no los dejé y no pienso dejarlos, ya son muchos años de seguirlos cada vez con más pasión, ahora que estoy rodeado de grandes conocedores del juego de pelota, menos todavía. Seguramente aprenderé más y más.

El automovilismo también se lo debo a mi padre, él fue un gran fanático del deporte motor, con el tiempo me di cuenta que le gustaba más que el fútbol. El me llevó a ver a la máxima categoría del automovilismo local, el TC o turismo carretera que en aquel entonces realmente corrían sobre rutas, no había un circuito rodeado de gradas, no había zonas de escape, no había boxes, casi no había nada, pero la gente se agolpaba al costado de las rutas para ver pasar a esos bólidos de acero que corrían a velocidades extraordinarias. No lo pude ver a Fangio correr, pero sus hazañas estaban siempre presentes entre nosotros, luego vino Reutemann y en ocasiones me levantaba a las 6 AM para ver algunas carreras o me quedaba hasta las 2 AM despierto para otras. Los domingos miraba las carreras locales, siempre tuve predilección por los "chivos" (Chevrolet) y era enemigo del Ford, su más férreo contrincante. Con el paso de los años y gracias a la TV por cable conocí al NASCAR y mi enamoramiento fue inmediato.

Otros deportes que aprendí a querer, aunque gracias a las grandes performances, fueron el rugby y el hockey, como no amar a Los Pumas o a las Leonas, Luciana Aymar fue como Messi, 6 o 7 veces elegida la mejor jugadora del mundo. Ella y las primeras integrantes de esa selección dejaron un legado que hoy se traduce en más triunfos y el hockey femenino se mantiene en la más alta consideración mundial.

Todos los días surgen nuevos deportes y todos me llaman la atención, cuando hay juegos olímpicos, sudamericanos y los torneos mundiales miro todo lo que puedo, de algunos entiendo bastante otros no hace falta, solo verlos y disfrutar.

Ahora que estoy en el staff de #fulldeportes leo las publicaciones de todos los miembros y aprendo sobre nuevos deportes o nuevas modalidades, es fascinante y motivador.

Seguramente hay varias actividades deportivas que dejo en el tintero, no me vienen a la memoria en estos momentos; pero eso no significa que no los quiera, solo que son tantos que es imposible abarcarlos. Creo que siempre tuve esa inclinación hacia el deporte y mi historia con algunos de ellos me marcaron para siempre, quizás por eso ahora estoy aquí, sentado frente a la PC escribiendo, rememorando una parte de mi propia vida y agradeciendo lo que soy y lo que siento, como siempre.

#### Everything has a reason

The end of the year comes and one reviews many things, those that went well for us and those that did not. I also usually accompany these thoughts with some conclusions regarding my tastes and attitudes, to find my roots and analyze the reasons for some actions, behaviors, and satisfactions or displeasures.

This time she reviewed the sports topic; my wife says that if I had a cable signal with only sports channels, I would be the happiest person in the world and I think she is somewhat right.

I have always liked sports, soccer of course, I know a few Argentines who don't like this sport and it is not because Maradona and Messi were born here, well not in general. I am old enough to have been born before those two enormous references to this sport and I have liked it since then, one of my memories as a child was playing with a ball in the square in front of my maternal grandmother's house, with friends, with My younger brothers, I enjoyed those games where the goals were a couple of pieces of clothing and the rest was imagination, like when someone kicked and the ball went over the goalkeeper, the attacking team shouted Goal! and the opponents said Tall! as if the ball had gone over the non-existent crossbar.

Fishing is another sport that I am passionate about, perhaps many do not consider it a sport but for me, it has many of the characteristics that we highlight in sports activities, between my father and my grandmother instilled in me that passion for the rod and the line, I think I had 5 or 6 years old when, after spending the day enjoying the water on the beautiful beaches of Punta Lara, I looked for my mojarrera fishing rod and spent a good time fishing for those small fish, I gathered them so that my grandmother could fry them for me.

At school I learned to play and enjoy various sports activities, some unknown until then, I practiced softball, handball, basketball, and gymnastics, and on days of rain or intense cold I played billiards in its various variants, foosball, table tennis, and others. I don't remember anymore. The Salesian schools of that time gave great importance to the sporting aspect.

I didn't get along very well with basketball, because of my height it didn't seem like it was for me, but it's one thing to play it and another to watch it. When Ginobili and the golden generation appeared, gold medalists in the Olympic Games, world and NBA champions for several, and the Spurs and their various championship rings, he was there again, turned on to the TV.

On my first trip for work to the United States, I met baseball and American football and the connection was immediate, I did not leave them and I do not plan to leave them, it has been many years of following them with more and more passion, now that I am surrounded by great experts of the ball game, even less so. I will surely learn more and more.

I also owe motor racing to my father, he was a great fan of motorsports, and over time I realized that he liked it more than football. He took me to see the highest category of local motorsport, the TC or road tourism, which at that time ran on roads, there was no circuit surrounded by stands, there were no escape zones, there were no pits, there were almost nothing, but people gathered on the side of the roads to see those steel cars that ran at extraordinary speeds pass by. I didn't get to see Fangio race, but his exploits were always present among us, then Reutemann came and sometimes I got up at 6 AM to watch some races or stayed awake until 2 AM for others. On Sundays I watched the local races, I always had a predilection for the "goats" (Chevrolet) and I was an enemy of the Ford, its fiercest opponent. As the years went by and thanks to cable TV, I discovered NASCAR and my love was immediate.

Other sports that I learned to love, although thanks to great performances, were rugby and hockey, how not to love Los Pumas or Las Leonas, Luciana Aymar was like Messi, 6 or 7 times chosen as the best player in the world. She and the first members of that team left a legacy that today translates into more triumphs and women's hockey remains in the highest global regard.

Every day new sports emerge and they all catch my attention, when there are Olympic games, South American games, and world tournaments I watch everything I can, some I understand quite a bit, others I don't need to, just watch them and enjoy.

Now that I am on the #fulldeportes staff I read the posts of all the members and learn about new sports or new modalities, it is fascinating and motivating.

Surely there are several sports activities that I left in the pipeline, but they don't come to mind at the moment; But that doesn't mean I don't love them, it just means that there are so many of them that it's impossible to cover them. I think I always had that inclination towards sports and my history with some of them marked me forever, perhaps that is why I am here now, sitting in front of the PC writing, remembering a part of my own life and being grateful for what I am and what I feel, as always.
