IOTA的目標是成為物聯網機器間交換資訊的錢包，無論是數據交換、資料錨定、微支付 ( Micropayment )，甚至是智慧電網、基礎設施、供應鏈運輸、智慧城市都是未來的應用目標。 IOTA用的不是區塊鏈技術，而是一種叫Tangle的DAG（有向無環圖）技術。在 Tangle 的架構下沒有礦工的概念，每位用戶都能發起交易，及驗證交易。這也令IOTA能實現零手續費，非常適合被用作小額支付。 IOTA 目前已經與許多知名企業合作，打造安全且快速的資訊交換空間，真正試驗應用該技術於 IoT 之上，其中包括 Bosch、微軟、富士通、三星、福斯汽車等 20 幾間企業，以及與台北市府團隊簽訂合作備忘錄，共同發展智慧城市。 在代碼更新方面，IOTA也算是更新得比較頻密的項目，IOTA將會在十月底前釋出IOTA 1.5，為Coordicide主網做準備，這將會是IOTA史上最大型的鏈上更新。 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CV7-SybIhvY
