The Riftwatchers cards finally has arrived to the game! How is everyone luck in opening the packs and using the Riftwatcher cards in the battle? 

In this post, we'll quickly look the stats and abilities of each monsters specifically in the water splinter and I will give my opinion regarding those monsters. For the Fire Splinter, I've made a post last week.

Regarding the summoners in the Riftwatchers set, I have made a post before regarding my opinion on each newly introduced summoners as well.

### **Coastal Nymph**

My current owned highest level Coastal Nymph is a ★4 normal foil. In my recent battle I rarely use this card but let's take a look on my insight of this card.

Coastal Nymph is a pretty good card when it comes to damage as a low level could deal a 3 range damage while an upgraded one deals 4 range damage. The scattershot for this card made me think to use this card especially that most of my playstyle is focus on a specific target. The scattershot of Coastal Nymph is pretty good if you are aiming for a support monster from the backline. For a low mana, I still prefer to use Kulu Swimhunter, Merdhampir and Sniping Narwhal but if there is a big mana and I am expecting some taunt or a low health monster in the backline then Coastal Nymph for me is much better.

Usage: Bypassing a taunt ability for the scattershot or for the back to basic which deals a great amount of damage as long as the mana capacity of the match is high enough to accommodate Coastal Nymph.

### **Lemell Refugee**

My current owned highest level Lemell Refugee is a ★4 normal foil. In my recent battle, the same with Coastal Nymph, I rarely use Lemell Refugee except from some special case.

Looking at Lemell Refugee stats, this card is pretty well balance in terms of stats dealing a great melee damage, a pretty nice speed, armored and having a high health. Plus it have void armor which is pretty good against magic and in higher level an enrage.

Why I did not use this card frequently? The first thing is that I usually use Diemonshark in the frontline because it deals a great damage especially when enrage and if I am facing against magic user opponent, Legionnaire Alvar is my choice but if neutral is not allowed then Lemell Refugee is a good substitute. I also use Lemell Refugee if there is an equal opportunity wherein it can perform attack from the backline.

In my opinion, Lemell Refugee is powerful in higher league because of its enrage ability that boost its damage and speed.

Usage: Best to use in the frontline position if dealing against magic opponent but it might not last for a series of magic attack. It is a good option for equal opportunity and super sneak ruleset as if place in the backline, it can attack.

### **Sea Stalker**

My current owned highest level Sea Stalker is a ★3 normal foil. In my recent battle, I usually use Sea Stalker mainly because of two things, Camouflage and high damage.

The rare monsters from the Riftwatcher is really powerful. Looking at the stats of Sea Stalker, a base level can already deal a 4 range damage with a snipe and camouflage ability. This card can freely attack from the backline dealing a massive amount of damage. It also have a high health where even a blast attack  could not kill this monster easily.

If you want a solid damage, I think the Sea Stalker is a good choice

Usage: This is a very powerful card which I think is great addition to the water splinter. Without any legendary for a high mana match, the Sea Stalker is a good choice.

### **Water Caller**

My current owned highest level Water Caller is a ★1 normal foil and lacks a few BCX to upgrade to ★3 to ★4. I have never use Water Caller due to the reason that its speed is very slow compare to the speed of a normal water monsters. From my current water summoner which is Kelya and Aquatus I don't think that Water Caller is compatible but let's look at the bright side for this summoner.

The main good thing that Water Caller can offer is the combination that it is a magic unit with a stun ability. However attacking a monster with a phase unit with a great speed can easily dodge its attack such as Oshannus. I do think that this card is better in higher league because of the reflective shield ability. 

Usage: Best to use with summoner that does not offer speed buffs for the reverse speed.

### **Runemancer Kye**

My first legendary gold foil in the riftwatcher is a Runemancer Kye. I usually use Runemancer Kye if the matchup permits me because I feel like this card is a powerful one.

Runemancer Kye is quite strong dealing a 3 magic damage, with a decent speed of 3, a 5 armor and an 8 health. The flying ability and life leech ability are pretty awesome for a ★1 to ★2. I usually put Kye in the last position because of the 2 abilities it have.

Usage: Runemancer Kye to me is an all around monster which can be use in different ruleset as long as the mana cap is high. Also a very powerful one that deals 3 magic damage and leech 2 health in each attack. Be aware on those monster with Giant Killer ability as it deals x2 damage to Kye due to its 11 mana cost. Runemancer Kye is also great in explosive ruleset as it can leech to both enemies.

##  **Verdict**

Runemancer Kye and Sea Stalker were the two monsters in the Water splinter that suits into my playstyle. These two monsters gives a pretty nice additional damage to the water splinter. And the art were so good! The creative department nailed it!

On the other hand, Coastal Nymph because of its scattershot is rarely use but for back to basic I'll definitely use Coastal Nymph. Lemell Refugee is also a good addition to the water deck. Water Caller on the otherhand maybe will be suitable on the upcoming summoner.
