Sigue la onda navideña de películas y esta semana buscando que ver me encontré con esta película que se estrenó el año pasado y que realmente, creo que no tuvo mucho éxito o promoción porque apenas supe de ella mientras veía el catálogo de películas relacionadas con navidad.
> It follows the Christmas wave of movies and this week looking for what to see I came across this movie that was released last year and that really, I don't think it had much success or promotion because I barely knew about it while I was watching the catalog of movies related to Christmas.
Mientras sigo esperando otros estrenos navideños este año, decidí ver _**"Christmas Is Canceled"**_, una propuesta que puedes ver en _"Prime Video" (Amazon)_ o en _"Max Original"_ y trata sobre la vida de un hombre mayor que luego de perder a su esposo comienza un romance repentino con la enemiga de su hija.
> While I'm still waiting for other Christmas releases this year, I decided to check out _**"Christmas Is Cancelled"**_, a proposal that you can see on _"Prime Video" (Amazon)_ or on _"Max Original"_ and is about the life of an older man who, after losing his husband, begins a sudden romance with his daughter's enemy.

**_Emma Lockhart_** es una joven exitosa que se ve involucrada en una pesadilla en la que su padre, **_Jack Lockhart_** decide comenzar una relación con su ex amiga de la secundaria y enemiga **_Brandy Barnes_**, que tiene la misma edad que ella. Al enterarse de forma sorpresiva de la relación de su padre luego de haber pasado 2 años como viudo tras el fallecimiento de su esposa.
> **_Emma Lockhart_** is a successful young woman who finds herself involved in a nightmare in which her father, **_Jack Lockhart_** decides to start a relationship with his former high school friend and enemy **_Brandy Barnes_**, who he is the same age as her. When he found out surprisingly about her father's relationship after having spent 2 years as a widower after the death of his wife.
Pero cuando **_Jack_** decide enfrentar su nueva relación con la enemiga de su hija, ésta decide hacerle la guerra y no permitir que forme parte de la familia _**"Lockhart"**_ por lo que intentará terminar la relación antes del día de navidad y lo planea todo conforme a las fechas navideñas, recreando viejas tradiciones familiares y haciendo de lado a la nueva pareja de su padre; no sin antes dar espacio a descabelladas ideas y acciones que hacen que todo el proceso de separación sea más divertido que efectivo.
> But when **_Jack_** decides to face his new relationship with his daughter's enemy, she decides to make war on him and not allow him to be part of the _**"Lockhart"**_ family, so he will try to end the relationship before on Christmas Day and plans everything according to the Christmas dates, recreating old family traditions and leaving out his father's new partner; but not before giving space to crazy ideas and actions that make the whole separation process more fun than effective.

La película se centra en las fechas navideñas de la familia _**"Lockhart"**_, pero a medida que el film avanza, se aleja cada vez más de la esencia navideña que parece tratar el film. Cuando intentan incorporar alguna alusión a navidad, parece forzado y necesario para que la película sea catalogada como navideña; personalmente, no la considero una película navideña, más bien puedo decir que es una película que casualmente fue hecha en la temporada navideña, aunque si intentan incorporar la fecha en todo el film, no siento que haya sido efectivo.
> The film focuses on the Christmas holidays of the _**"Lockhart"**_ family, but as the film progresses, it moves further and further away from the essence of Christmas that the film seems to be about. When they try to incorporate any allusion to Christmas, it seems forced and necessary for the film to be classified as Christmas; Personally, I don't consider it a Christmas movie, rather I can say that it's a movie that just happened to be made in the Christmas season, although if they try to incorporate the date throughout the film, I don't feel it was effective.
Todos los actores, a excepción de "_**Dermot Mulroney**_" fueron nuevos para mi. Tal vez uno que otro de los actores se me hizo familiar pero no logré recordar si había visto su trabajo en algún otro proyecto. Me gustó eso, que fuesen caras nuevas y que todos fueron buenos actores. Por momentos se sintió bien cursi y algo forzado por todo el tema navideño pero en general fue un trabajo bueno.
> All the actors except "_**Dermot Mulroney**_" were new to me. Perhaps one or another of the actors seemed familiar to me, but I couldn't remember if I had seen his work in any other project. I liked that, that they were new faces and that they were all good actors. At times it felt cheesy and somewhat forced by the whole Christmas theme but overall it was a good job.
Con respecto a las historia de todos los personajes me gustó que tuvieran una conexión coherente entre todos, de cierto modo, habían amigos de la infancia, ex parejas, compañeras de trabajo y familiar, no hubo algún personaje fuera de lugar o que sintiera que no debía estar ahí.
> Regarding the history of all the characters, I liked that they had a coherent connection between all of them, in a certain way, there were childhood friends, ex-partners, co-workers and relatives, there was no character out of place or that I felt was not should be there.

Los temas a tratar en el film fueron la relación padre e hija, las relaciones entre hombres mayores con mujeres mucho menores y la pérdida de un miembro importante en la familia y la forma en la que se lidia con esa pérdida. Todos fueron tratado desde el punto de vista serio y alguno que otro con un toque de comedia, por al fin y al cabo, es una rom-com, con destellos navideños.
> The themes to be dealt with in the film were the father-daughter relationship, the relationships between older men with much younger women, and the loss of an important member of the family and the way in which that loss is dealt with. All were treated from a serious point of view and some with a touch of comedy, after all, it is a rom-com, with Christmas sparkles.
Cuando las películas de comedia ahondan problemas serios puede servir para interesar a la audiencia o para aburrirla, y aún no sé cual de estas dos opciones me afectó. Ciertamente tiene sus momentos graciosos en los que solté una carcajada sorpresiva, como también tuvo sus momentos subidos de tono con tilde sexual pero no creo que haya sido necesariamente para aburrirnos, aunque tampoco fue tan útil hacer uso de dichos recursos porque apesar de todo, la película iba por buen camino.
> When comedy movies delve into serious problems it can serve to interest the audience or to bore them, and I still don't know which of these two options affected me. It certainly has its funny moments in which I burst out laughing surprisingly, as it also had its risqué moments with sexual overtones, but I don't think it was necessarily to bore us, although it wasn't so useful to make use of these resources because despite everything, the movie was on the right track.
Al final se justificaron algunos aspectos que parecían no encajar, otros un tanto comunes y solo uno que realmente me pareció necesario para dar un empujón a la protagonista de salir del mundo de fantasías en la que viva atrapada. Lo más extraño del film fue la relación entre padre e hija la intensidad con la que intentaba suplantar la figura de su madre con respecto a la responsabilidad de cuidar y proteger a su padre, sin embargo, fue interesante ver nuevamente como este tema es tocado desde un punto de vista diferente con algo de comedia pero manteniendo la seriedad que implica actuar de esa forma y desde que lugar y con que intención estás actuando.
> In the end, some aspects that seemed not to fit were justified, others somewhat common and only one that really seemed necessary to give the protagonist a push to get out of the world of fantasies in which she lives trapped. The strangest thing about the film was the relationship between father and daughter, the intensity with which he tried to supplant the figure of his mother with respect to the responsibility of caring for and protecting his father, however, it was interesting to see again how this topic is touched on from a different point of view with some comedy but maintaining the seriousness that implies acting in that way and from what place and with what intention you are acting.

¿Recomendaría la película? No lo creo. Hay otras películas más interesantes relacionadas con navidad o temática navideña. No quiero decir que es una mala película o que no vayas a verla, pero si puedes buscar algo más, no dudes en hacerlo.
> Would you recommend the movie? I do not think so. There are other more interesting movies related to Christmas or Christmas themes. I'm not saying it's a bad movie or that you shouldn't go see it, but if you can find something else, feel free to do so.
Fue 1 hora y media la que invertí viendo el film y aunque no me arrepiento de haberla visto, sé con seguridad que no la volveré a ver, al menos no por voluntad propia o por deseo de querer hacerlo.
> It took an hour and a half to spend watching the film and although I don't regret having seen it, I know for sure that I won't see it again, at least not by choice or by wanting to.
Ahora, continuo esperando los nuevos estrenos de las plataforma de streaming para ver que otra sorpresa navideña nos traen para este año.
