Hello Steemians,

I know we all know about Esteem but did you know esteem means RESPECT?
Today I am bringing to you one of the best dapps on the steemit blockchain. I will be telling you about what the dapp entails and why we need to respect this dapp as its name implies. 

Welcome to another task by @dapplovers and @oracle-d called State Of The Dapps which is based on blockchain dapps.

**STATE OF THE DAPPS?**
This is a platform established solely to carefully and thoughtfully choose dapps built on blockchains. This was formerly based on Ethereum blockchain but has been fully extended to other platforms like steemit, POA among others.

**WHAT THEN IS DAPPS?**
Dapp also known as Decentralised Application can be said to mean an application which is completely made public, with its data operation and module saved in the cryptospace. 

**ALL ABOUT ESTEEM**
[@esteem](https://esteem.app/?utm_source=StateOfTheDApps) was created by @good-karma as another interface for steemit with beautiful and interesting layout. I call it the 'To Go' place for everything steem. From posting, to commenting, to voting among other steem blogging tools, Esteem is the way to go. It is also ranking at number 2 on [STATE OF THE DAPPS](https://www.stateofthedapps.com/rankings/category/media?page=1)


**Desktop usage**
After download and installation using this [link](https://github.com/esteemapp/esteem-surfer/releases/download/2.0.6/esteem-surfer-setup-2.0.6.exe), I got a request for pin which you can see below:

After this I was redirected to my login page where I am requested to put in my password and username either manually or via steemconnect:

After login I fell in love with the landing page. It was looking so beautiful and I can categoically say that the user experience is topnotch. It dislayed everything to a simplest form. From my post highlight, to comments, replies and th ebest of all which is my wallet with its transaction history.

Withouth much stress, I can see what each post is about from the use of my first tag as a form of mini explanation for the post.

**MOBILE**
Downloading the mobile app using this [link](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netsolutions.esteem) was easy because it took me directly to playstore on my andriod phone and also this for [IOS](https://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=1141397898&mt=8).

Unlike the deskstop where you either choose manual or steemconnect, the mobile displays this

As a curious cat I had to click on the advance button to see what that means. Below was what was displayed and this makes my login easy:

While the side drop down menu displays like this;

My search coloumn gave me a menu to choose from which was accurate by the way. I can either search by tags, user handle or post which is cool by the way.

I love the market interface too, it clearly shows esteem knows what they were doing.

**WHAT I LOVE ABOUT ESTEEM DESKTOP AND MOBILE**
I love the way my cover image is well laid out.They made all components fill the screen without looking congested.

* *Leaderboard and Activities*: Just like we have in the game dapps, esteem surfer guves us the leaderboard to know who the top daily users are. All my activites are displayed, showing what I have been upto on the blockchain.

* *Gallery*: I bet you have never explored this section before. Well clicking on this shows all the images I have ever uploaded while using the [@esteem](https://esteem.app/?utm_source=StateOfTheDApps) app. I can re-use any image without going all the way back to the source, with just a click, it copies automatically to your clipboard when you click on it and you can also delete if you do not want to re-use again.

* *Bookmark and Favourite*: Just like we need a little paper to mark the section of a book we are reading, [@esteem](https://esteem.app/?utm_source=StateOfTheDApps) provided this section for you to keep a post you would like to go back to. So I bookmarked some post in this app so that I can retrieve it at the click of my mouse when I'm in need of it. I don't have to stress myself when my chrome crashes while using steemit.com. Favourites helps me go back to re-visit some post I love to read and make as reference too.

* *Schedule*: I can plan my post ahead of my week should incase of unforseen circumstances.

* *Witness*: Did you know [@esteem](https://esteem.app/?utm_source=StateOfTheDApps) made it possible to vote for your witness with just a click without you leaving the app.

* **RC and Voting Power**: The most amazing part of this dapp is that this particular one is of the most valuable part of this blockchain.It keeps following/appearing from/on page to page and I love this because it helps serves as a reminder on when to stop so as not to drain my VP and RC.

**CURRENCY SETTINGS**
This is one of the coolest tool on the dapp, you can change your currency from the current form to any one of your choice be it based on region or locality. Below is the place the change occurs:

This is how my payout looks like after the change.

As you can see, my payout has changed to naira after I selected Naira from the currency menu drop down.


**URL COLUMN**
This column shows that I do not have to stress myself anymore by searching for a profile or id of another steemian. All I had to do was just to edit the url with the person's name and viola!!!! I am on their page without having to open another tab.

**ACCOUNT SWITCH**:
I can switch to as many account as possible so long as I have my keys at hand.

**DISLIKES**
* While typing my fingers are faster than my words. In the sense that I have to wait a few seconds for the words I typed to appear on the screen. This happened on both my mobile and desktop. 

**Improvement**
I think this should be checked out. I should be able to see each letter I typed displayed on the screen so as to avoid making lots of typographical error because editing takes alot of time if its too much.

* Top post on Desktop: This is what appears at the upper most part of my recent post highlight. At a glance I am happy [@esteem](https://esteem.app/?utm_source=StateOfTheDApps) was reminding me about my old post. While I Clicked on one of this to check it out,I scrolled to the end of my post only to see pop ups of some other steemian's post which was said to be similar with mine. This was appearing like an advert and it led to:
                    
* An additional data cost for me.
* It causes distraction because I found myself leaving my page and exploring some other person's page. By so doing this, my attention was diverted from my main objective to a different thing.

**Improvement**
Kindly make this optional for people to make their own decision if I want to se a similar post or not.

**Dislikes on mobile app**
* My back button does not lead anywhere but shuts down my app. I cannot navigate from one page to another instead my app closes completely.

* My feed also do not load fast unlike my partiko app and the [@esteem](https://esteem.app/?utm_source=StateOfTheDApps) surferer for desktop. If it loads, my post pictures takes forever to display.

**Improvement**
Kindly check out the back key, I want to be able to go back to my previous data without closing the app. Also look into what is causing the app to nt load fully. 

Asides these complains above: [@esteem](https://esteem.app/?utm_source=StateOfTheDApps) is one of the best dapp on the steemit blockchain compared to busy and partiko.They took their time to survey and investigate what is best for users and they gave us their best. I feel like I am shopping in a supermart that has everything well thought out down to the smallest detail. Big ups to Esteem, they gave me a steemitlike ecommerce platform where everything I need and more is at my reach.
