Approx more than half a billion facebook users have had their data hacked the data included full names, phone,  numbers, dates of birth, and email addresses and  it was found on a website trading  information for hackers.
But why would hackers want this kind of data. You know? One of the biggest data hacks of recent years even is mark Zuckerberg's data was leaked, in a statement facebook said the leaked information was old and came from a problem, it had resolved in recent years so no need to worry, Even the hack was about some years ago a lot of this information is still valid i mean people don't change their date of  birth and rarely change their email address right? so that makes it very valuable for hackers with this they have all kinds of information they can use to impersonate you  answer your security questions and log into your accounts.
what happens when you forget your password well most of the time a website will ask for your security code  this could be your mother's maiden name  or even  your date of birth exactly the kind of  information that got leaked. hackers can use this information to answer your security questions reset your password and get access to  your sensitive accounts

They can use that for identity fraud  theft or blackmail so with your phone number hackers can send you some messages  pretending to be from your bank or tap into your SMS network to get access to two-factor  authentication and use that to reset the password on your account.
sms really isn't a very secure communication network and security experts recommend not to follow links sent there even worse is when data leaks include passwords.
let's be honest guys, how many of you use the  same password for everything or have a number of passwords that you alternate between  well if your email and password gets leaks from an insecure website  what would hackers be able to access my data was leaked a few years ago and i still get messages from the manufacturer  telling me that people are trying to log  into my phone remotely  thankfully it hasn't worked so far. but  it doesn't cost hackers very much to try there are websites selling personal  information for as little as 5 cents you can find out if your data  has been leaked by sum unofficial websites and  entering your email address.
My main email address hasn't been pwned  but the email i used for registering andand for normal sites for was five times pwned this is why it's important to use different passwords and email addresses for secure  information.
what can you do to avoid being scammed for one always be very suspicious when receiving sms, emails or text messages that ask you to  click on a link  chances are high that you might download malware this way or it could be a phishing scam and regularly.
