A very long time ago, there was an innocent girl named Sandra. She was beautiful and intelligent but was unfortunate in relationships. Her heart was constantly broken by the kind of men she had met along her path. She decided to face her education and graduated well from school – it was supposed to be a good day for her but it wasn’t because she was an orphan and no one came to see her graduate. Life continued after school and she got a job after. If everything should go against her at least her career was on the right part she thought to herself.

Two years into the job, she was on a house hunt when she met agent Michael. He was so cute and charming, she fell for him almost immediately. She had the money to pay but she delayed so they could still see. Eventually, her dream came to pass and he asked her out on a date which led to a relationship. She was ready to give the relationship all she had after 11 years of being single.

The relationship went on for months before she discovered the love of her life was a drug addict. He was into all kind of illegal pills, cocaine and weed. She was shocked when she found out, she tried all she could to talk him out.

_”Michael, how can you keep this habit of yours from me? I thought you love me.”_ Tears came down her eyes.

_”I am sorry but you don’t expect me to tell you. This is my own dirty little secret.” He was angry he got caught. _”Many girls have left me because of this, so if you want to, just go.” He thought.

She looked at him and saw the anger. _”I will make sure I change him from this habit.” She thought as she begged him.

Now see, this was the beginning of the end of the relationship and the beginning of a new phase in Sandra’s life. In the process of trying to change Michael, she became a drug addict too and the relationship eventually broke. Now, she is single and finding solace in drugs. I won’t say much about this topic but to tell people to be careful with the thought of changing your partner just because you want the relationship to survive.

There is change in change, we all need to know this. When you decide to change someone, expect a change either from you or the person. Never enter a relationship or sustain one with the mentality of changing a person from a bad habit. Habits are skin-deep and have become a person’s character so change sometimes take a tough skin or divine grace. The person must be really committed to changing before you can come in to help not to be the main mover of the change. Don’t be like Sandra that got desperate, be yourself and decide if you can cope with your partner’s habit or just quit.

A word is always enough for the wise, I drop my pen with this little advice. Do not be too desperate to get into a relationship, enter into one that you can endure each other’s habit. Endurance is a keyword in relationship because you are coming from different backgrounds and upbringings so expect different habits and characters. Thank you for reading this, be well despite the dip.
