Imagina que estamos en un cuarto lleno de servidores que están desencriptando bloques, están segundo a segundo comunicandose entre ellos para llevar a cabo todas esas millones de transacciones propias del Blockchain. De alguna manera , todas esas máquinas tienen que ponerse de acuerdo para llevar a cabo su labor del día; Para ello fueron diseñados los **Protocolos de consenso** que permiten a una red descentralizada llegar a un acuerdo sobre lo que sucederá con un registro.

**Proof-of-Stake (PoS)**

Prueba de participación en español: a raíz de los problemas que surgieron con el PoW y los ataques51% 
se diseñó un nuevo algoritmo en el cual las máquinas ya no son la que computan sino que ahora, el requisito para participar  es disponer de una billetera con una cantidad de criptomoneda asociada a ese Blockchain. Mientras más monedas tienes almacenadas en tu billetera (y durante más tiempo/ hold) mas recompensa recibes, de hecho, tienes prioridad al momento de desencriptar un bloque.

Básicamente, en el PoS no hay que invertir en servidores ni pagar costosas facturas de electricidad porque con una máquina standar y una wallet con monedas ya puedes participar.
