@ericvancewalton - I've upvoted your post because it carries two valuable lessons which I think can be helpful to any Steem-evangelist out there who needs to "convert" their Facebook friends to Steemit. What you are saying in your post essentially is that there is a wrong way and also a right way to promote Steemit to the outside world.

**The wrong way is to Pitch it to Everyone!**

**The right way is to present Steemit to the right people - ONLY!.**

This same desire to connect with readers will likely overshadow any trepidations they harbor about joining a new social media platform."*

To which I totally agree! it's not about the PITCH or message. It's about targeting the right audience.

Later on maybe I'll write a blog post in which I could elaborate more on this subject as I believe that knowing how to target the right audience is crucial if Steemit  is to reach its full potential as a blogging platform. I've been a regular Steemit reader since July. Haven't published any full post  myself yet. But thinking about it:).
