Ty looked down towards the slowly growing wet patch on her chest. The Ships' Human, Seph, was breathing erratically. His hands tangled in and clinging to her fur. Even though Ty had never taken Companion training, she had read the most important parts of the manual. So she petted Human Seph's hair.

"There, there," she cooed uncertainly. "There, there..."

Human Seph uttered a series of incomprehensible syllables into Ty's fur.

Ty urgently paged the nearest Companion and kept cooing, "There, there," with increasing nervousness. Human Seph continued to not make sense, clinging and sobbing and squeaking incoherently.

Companion Thal was out of breath when they arrived. "Aw no. Awww... Aaww, Human Seph... What's happened?"

High-pitched squeaking blubbering emerged from the wet patch in Ty's fur.

"Ah. The baby fluffy things from our last survey world. They were so little. And we weren't allowed to take them back with us." Companion Thal patted Ty on his back. "It's _all_ right. They're with their mommy. Their mommy's looking after them. Okay?"

More incomprehensible squeaking.

"I'm sure mommy was enough _before_ you ever saw them. Mommy will be enough now."

Ty sighed, "This is going to take a while, isn't it?"
