> A family unable to bear children, but had a large house and farm, asked Wraithvine and hir friends to help find children to adopt, for they lived far enough from most places that finding unwanted children was actually difficult. -- Anon Guest
It's a familiar beginning to a nursery tale: _Once upon a time were a loving couple who could not have children..._
In most stories, it's the origin point of something or someone wondrous. They inevitably leave the humble farm and nobody asks about the loving couple. The wondrous is way more interesting, after all. Not in this story.
Once upon a time, a Giant fell in love with a Gnome. They could not have children the _normal_ way, and so asked a traveling Wizard for help. As one might expect, this wanderer was Wraithvine, and knew _many_ interesting tricks.
A Giant, you see, is not often welcome near the cities and towns of smaller folk. Folks even _smaller_ than that have similar trouble, but the opposite way. In their own way, each of them were Unwelcome.
As for the Wizard Wraithvine... Ze had ways to find those who truly needed loving and caring parents. The story says ze skipped across starlight and scooped up every Unwanted and Unwelcome babe without a home or happiness. Stories get like that, the more often they're retold.
They say that if a child is lost and alone, if they are left without hope and happiness... they will turn a corner or find a path that leads them to a warm and spacious house that is far, far away from everywhere else. A home for children who would otherwise have none.
They call it the Welcome Home, and there is always someone there to care.
