I asked my uncle who shared this meme a very simple question. "If I steal a hundred dollars from you, but feed some homeless people with it, is it still considered stealing since I did a good deed?"

First he said 'the irony is lost'

Second he said I was presenting a 'false equivalency'

I then asked if taxation is theft?

He wouldn't answer and said since I brought it up I should answer it...so I did. Yes it is.

Then he mentioned the roads.

I brought him back to taxation and at this point I get this..."I don't have the time or energy to explore a very complex question with you." 

Is it just me, or is this a common thread when speaking to statists? You start to lead them down the rabbit hole and just before their last foot is through their cognitive dissonance goes off and all of a sudden it's a super complex issue. When in reality it is a basic moral principle. On top of that they suddenly feel like they just ran a marathon and that they are on the clock to solve world hunger.
