Cada vez que leemos un libro tenemos la oportunidad de transitar por caminos insospechados. Hasta en las obras más malas habrá la oportunidad de encontrar algún aprendizaje. Pero claro, siempre hay autores que sobresalen por la profundidad de su pensamiento, por la maestría al expresarlo y por la forma en que conectan con nuestra sensibilidad en un momento determinado. De esos autores especiales tomamos ideas para fortalecer las propias y es muy común que una misma obra nos diga cosas distintas en diferentes momentos de la vida.

Para este tercer día del reto he escogido dos citas de autores que me han hecho reflexionar con sus planteamientos.

La primera cita es del escritor argentino Ricardo Piglia, aparece en su obra “Blanco Nocturno”.

Un misterio bien interesante es cómo encontramos los libros que leemos, hay quienes dicen que no los encontramos sino que, por el contrario, ellos nos encuentran. Creo que es así, Piglia nos dice que se tienen que dar un conjunto de circunstancias para que entre tantos miles y miles de libros existentes nosotros nos fijemos en uno en especial. También nos señala el argentino que pareciera que hay libros que fueron escritos pensando en cada persona en particular, son aquellos que tienen el poder de revelarnos aspectos del mundo y de nosotros que no teníamos  claros.

Nunca se sabe cuando daremos con ese libro iluminador,  que alguien escribió en algún momento como si estuviera leyendo nuestro pensamiento y quisiera conectarse con nosotros. Lo que si suele ocurrir es que  a medida  que  cultivamos la lectura nos damos cuenta que en realidad son pocos los libros sobre los que podemos decir: ¡caramba, esto era lo que había estado buscando!

La segunda cita es de Haruki Murakami, un autor al que suelo leer frecuentemente y que tiene la particularidad de crear universos oníricos y plenos  de fantasía. Sin embargo, la cita que traigo en esta oportunidad es de otro libro distinto, De Qué Hablo Cuando Hablo De Correr. Un ensayo donde el japonés reflexiona sobre la importancia que tienen las carreras en su vida.

Como dice el japonés, envejecer es una gran suerte y un privilegio, y por tanto motivo de agradecimiento. Sin embargo, como parte de ese proceso de envejecimiento hay un deterioro progresivo de nuestras facultadas físicas, perdemos flexibilidad, fuerza y agilidad. Ante eso lo más saludable es aceptarlo como algo normal. Quizá no tengamos la capacidad de seguir ganando maratones de largo aliento, pero siempre podremos hacer lo que nuestras capacidades nos permitan. No tiene ningún sentido mirar hacia atrás y compararnos con los años juveniles. Cada etapa de la vida tiene sus propias posibilidades.

>As the Japanese say, getting old is a great luck and a privilege, and therefore a reason to be grateful. However, as part of that aging process there is a progressive deterioration of our physical abilities, we lose flexibility, strength and agility. In the face of this, the healthiest thing is to accept it as something normal.
