Se ve lejano aquel tiempo en que el proyecto de vida era muy sencillo, básicamente prepararse, trabajar duro y, lo más importante, formar una familia para tener la dicha de llegar a viejo conociendo hijos y nietos.

Por ese entonces se aceptaba como algo natural que uno no era el centro de la vida, sino la familia, era en la familia donde radicaba la realización de cada quien. Pero ahora las cosas son distintas, se ha sobredimensionado la importancia del ego y del sujeto. Lo más relevante es la meta personal, aunque eso signifique vivir la mayor parte de la vida en medio de una gran soledad…

Siempre he sentido la necesidad de una pareja, aún de niño me resultaban fascinantes aquellas historias donde las personas se encontraban y vivían felices para siempre. Ese sueño de dar con  la  indicada me impulsaba a estarme enamorando a cada rato, lo que me llevó a conocer muchos desencantos.

No es fácil dar con la pareja ideal, más cuando uno se las ingenia para hacer la cosa más difícil. Tenemos la tendencia a proyectar en los demás lo que nosotros queremos ver y esa es la causa de muchos desengaños. Eso me ocurría con más frecuencia de la deseable. Enamorarme y comenzar a inventarme fantasías sobre la otra persona era un proceso simultáneo. Mi imaginación no conocía límites para construir personalidades irreales. Con el paso del tiempo caía en cuenta de los espejismos que había construido y lógicamente el camino a la ruptura estaba asegurado.

We have the tendency to project in others what we want to see and that is the cause of many disappointments. This happened to me more often than I would have liked. Falling in love and starting to make up fantasies about the other person was a simultaneous process. My imagination knew no limits to building unreal personalities. As time went by, I became aware of the mirages I had constructed and logically the path to breakup was assured.

Mucho me costó darme cuenta de ese error y comenzar a ver a las personas tal como eran, con sus luces y sus sombras.

Hace un poco más de treinta años la vida puso en mi camino la pareja ideal, mi esposa, Damarys. Con ella he podido construir una vida con mucha felicidad. Esto no quiere decir que no haya sus altas y sus bajas, porque los pequeños desencuentros son normales durante  convivencias tan prolongadas. Sin embargo, ambos hemos encontrado el camino de resolver las desavenencias,  procurando que haya el menor daño posible en la relación.

>A little more than thirty years ago life put the ideal couple in my way, my wife, Damarys. With her I have been able to build a life with much happiness. This doesn't mean that there aren't ups and downs, because small misunderstandings are normal during such a long life together. However, both of us have found the way to solve the disagreements, trying to have as little damage as possible in the relationship.

Damarys es una persona muy sensible, generosa, sincera, con una gran facilidad de ver la vida con amor. Le encanta regalar amor a todos los que están a su alrededor. Gracias a su sensibilidad he aprendido a flexibilizar mis rigideces, lo que me ha hecho una persona un poco más amable y tolerante. Las buenas parejas tienen esa capacidad de hacer mejores al otro.

Ahorita nos hemos quedado los dos solos. Casi todos los hijos se fueron al exterior. Siempre pienso en lo afortunado que soy por tenerla a ella como compañera en estos momentos tan extraños, cuando estamos medio presos en nuestros hogares. Nuestros días pasan de forma muy ligera, placentera y amorosa. Compartimos todo lo que podemos y cada quien hace  lo que necesita para sentirse bien... Nuestro tiempo alcanza para todo.  Todos los días le doy gracias a la vida por haber cruzado nuestros caminos…

I always think about how lucky I am to have her as a companion in these strange moments, where we are half imprisoned in our homes. Our days pass in a very light, pleasant and loving way. Qué buena publicación, todo lo que dices acerca de proyectar en los otros lo que queremos ver, y no darnos la oportunidad de conocer en realidad a la persona que tenemos al frente es muy acertado. Yo pensé que solos las mujeres nos creamos fantasías en nuestras mentes. 
Qué hermosas palabras las que le dedicas a tu esposa, sin duda alguna eres muy afortunado.  Es muy importante contar con una persona que te brinde tranquilidad y paz, permitiendo así  que la convivencia sea armoniosa sobre todo en estos momentos de encierro.
