De paseo por “La Caminería Las Delicias” | Strolling through "La Caminería Las Delicias" [ESP/ENG]

Maracay es conocida como la Ciudad Jardín de Venezuela. El nombre se debe a la abundancia de especies vegetales que siempre la  han adornado. Años atrás se podían ver grandes árboles por toda la ciudad. Ahora son mucho menos debido al crecimiento explosivo que ha sufrido el espacio urbano, lo que ha  ocasionado una gran deforestación para dar paso a numerosos complejos urbanísticos y comerciales.

Sin embargo, hay un área de la ciudad que todavía conserva el esplendor de otros tiempos y donde la concentración de grandes árboles sigue siendo abundante, es la “Caminería De Las Delicias”.

Antes de ser caminería  este frondoso espacio formaba parte de la antigua carretera que comunicaba a Maracay con la costa de Choroní, en los tiempos del “General Gómez”. 

Luego los planificadores decidieron ampliar la  Avenida de las Delicias y tuvieron la genial idea de conservar aquel espacio vegetal. Fue así como la caminería quedó en el medio de la Avenida, y funciona como divisoria entre las vías que suben o bajan del Norte de la Ciudad.

En la actualidad tiene una distancia de unos seis kilómetros, desde el Centro Médico, hasta La Redoma del Toro. Es un sitio muy concurrido donde los maracayeros caminan y manejan bicicletas.

En estos días aproveché una salida y cuando estábamos de regreso invité a mi esposa a dar una vuelta por la caminería. Inicialmente esto no estaba en nuestros planes, lo decidimos a última hora. Al principio dudamos un poco porque no llevábamos ropa adecuada para hacer un poco de ejercicio. No obstante ese detalle, decidimos que valía la pena caminar acompañado de los árboles, que en esta época de lluvias se mantienen con todo su verdor.

Hicimos un trayecto relativamente corto,  partiendo de la Redoma del Toro y llegando  hasta un poco antes del Pedagógico (UPEL Maracay). La distancia de ida y vuelta en ese recorrido es de unos tres kilómetros.

Como andábamos en plan de paseo, nos sentamos varias veces  a observar la variedad de árboles, escuchar el trinar de los pájaros, y conversar…

Entre las tantas cosas que comentamos surgió  precisamente el tema de por qué no íbamos más a menudo. En realidad dar una vuelta por el sitio no nos cuesta mucho porque queda relativamente cerca de donde vivimos.

La verdad es que a veces uno pierde el sentido de las cosas, se deja envolver por las rutinas  y las dificultades del día a día y se olvida de hacer cuestiones tan importantes como dar un sencillo paseo, algo que no solo anima el cuerpo sino también el alma.

Esa mañana la pasamos muy bien y nos planteamos retomar el viejo hábito de salir a tomar otros aires fuera de casa. Nosotros disfrutamos mucho del  cobijo que nos da nuestro hogar  y podemos pasar mucho tiempo sin salir al exterior, pero estando encerrados corremos el riesgo de aislarnos, porque en última instancia el mundo de afuera también existe y sigue su marcha sin que nos demos cuenta.

Si vienen alguna vez por Maracay, acérquense a dar una vuelta por la caminería es un espacio agradable y que vale la pena ver.

Maracay is known as the Garden City of Venezuela. The name is due to the abundance of plant species that have always adorned it. Years ago you could see large trees all over the city. Now there are much fewer due to the explosive growth of the urban space, which has caused a large deforestation to make way for numerous urban and commercial complexes.

Before becoming a walkway, this leafy space was part of the old road that connected Maracay with the coast of Choroní, in the times of "General Gómez".

At present it is about six kilometers long, from the Medical Center to La Redoma del Toro. It is a very busy place where Maracayeros walk and ride bicycles.

Among the many things we talked about, the subject of why we didn't go there more often came up. Actually, it doesn't cost us much to walk around the site because it is relatively close to where we live.

We enjoy the shelter that our home gives us and we can spend a lot of time without going outside, but being locked up we run the risk of isolating ourselves, because ultimately the outside world also exists and continues its march without us noticing it.

Que bien. Yo estudie mi Maestría en UPEL y trabajé como profesor de pregrado y postgrado muchos años. Me gustaría que las cosas mejoraran para volver de nuevo a la Universidad. Vivo cerca pero a veces uno se deja vencer por los problemas y se queda encerrado. La verdad es que tengo que salir más a menudo, me estoy volviendo ermitaño, jajaja. Si vale dios quiera todo mejore. La zona de las delicias siempre me ha gustado. Es bueno que te animes a salir a caminar eso ayuda mucho a la salud y así tambien te distraes y te olvidas un poco de los problemas. Un gran abrazo amigo

Una de mis ciudades amadas Maracay. Que indo paisaje para disfrutar amigo @irvinc. La primera fotografía se me pareció al Sector Las Ballenitas.
