### **A Castle in Caracas**
First it was the headquarters of the Military Academy, then it was the Ministry of Defense, a few years it functioned as a Military Historical Museum and today it is a Barracks, Mausoleum and Museum, it is the Cuartel de la Montaña, a building located in the west of the city of Caracas, it is strategically located on a hill in the Monte Piedad sector of the parish of 23 de Enero, From its position you can perfectly control almost the entire city center, including the Presidential Palace of Miraflores, its peculiar architectural style makes it stand out immediately, as it breaks with the existing urban pattern and therefore becomes an indisputable point of reference for anyone who can see it.

>### **Un Castillo en Caracas**
>Primero fue sede de la Academia Militar, luego fue el Ministerio de la Defensa, unos años funciono como Museo Histórico Militar y hoy en día es un Cuartel, Mausoleo y Museo, se trata del Cuartel de la Montaña, una edificación ubicada en el oeste de la ciudad de Caracas, se encuentra estratégicamente ubicado en una colina en el sector Monte Piedad de la parroquia 23 de Enero, desde su posición se puede controlar a la perfección casi todo el centro de la ciudad, incluyendo el Palacio Presidencial de Miraflores, su peculiar estilo arquitectónico lo hace resaltar de forma inmediata, ya que rompe con el patrón urbano existente y por lo tanto se convierte en un punto de referencia indiscutible para cualquiera que lo pueda avistar.
Today the Cuartel de la Montaña is a bastion of great importance for the ruling Bolivarian Revolution, since from its spaces were forged events that forever changed the course of Venezuelan history and since 2013 to receive the mortal remains of then President Hugo Chavez this place acquires a more solemn touch, where supporters of the Bolivarian leader usually approach on a daily basis to pay tribute and show their respects.
>Hoy en día el Cuartel de la Montaña es un baluarte de gran importancia para la gobernante Revolución Bolivariana, ya que desde sus espacios se fraguaron hechos que cambiaron para siempre el curso de la historia venezolana y desde el año 2013 al recibir los restos mortales del entonces presidente Hugo Chávez este lugar adquiere un toque más solemne, en donde los simpatizantes del líder bolivariano suelen acercarse de forma cotidiana a rendirle tributo y mostrar sus respetos.
The Cuartel de la montaña is an eclectic style castle that has become an architectural jewel of Caracas, and beyond the political dyes that may have is important to highlight its impeccable architecture, fine details and perfect state of preservation, which make it an invaluable element of high heritage value. It is in this way that I feel proud to have the opportunity to enjoy it through my window, since it is not only the central point of the landscape, but at the same time allows us to imagine the city of the early twentieth century where surely this construction stood out even more for its imposing and solidity.
>El Cuartel de la montaña es un castillo de estilo Ecléctico que se ha convertido en una joya arquitectónica de Caracas, ya que más allá de los tintes políticos que pueda tener es importante resaltar su impecable arquitectura, finos detalles y perfecto estado de conservación, lo cual lo hacen un elemento invaluable y de alto valor patrimonial. Es de esta forma como me siento orgulloso de tener la oportunidad de disfrutar de el a través de mi ventana, ya que no solo es el punto central del paisaje, sino que al mismo tiempo nos permite imaginarnos a la ciudad de principios del siglo XX en donde seguramente esta construcción resaltaba aun más por su imponencia y su solidez.
Although this barracks in the form of a castle is somewhat late, since the logic of modernism tells us that these constructions are no longer necessary, we can emphasize that it was a success from the urban point of view, as it provided the city with a type of building that it did not have and therefore this is an unprecedented plus, which allows us to take advantage in tourism and advertising campaigns, placing Caracas as a very diverse destination and therefore tremendously interesting.
>Si bien este cuartel en forma de castillo es algo tardío, ya que la lógica del modernismo nos indica que estas construcciones ya no son tan necesarias podemos resaltar que fue un acierto desde el punto de vista urbano, ya que doto a la ciudad de un tipo de edificio con el cual no contaba y por lo tanto esto constituye un plus sin precedentes, que permite sacar provecho en campañas turísticas y publicitarias, colocando a Caracas como un destino muy diverso y por lo tanto tremendamente interesante.
