### **A Treasure of Caracas Architecture**


The National Expiatory Shrine of the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament in Caracas, was completely inaugurated in the year 1948, in the middle of an epoch where the vestiges of the Second World War had upset the whole global order, which had forced a rearrangement in the way of relating and understanding each other at international level, Of course all these events left an indelible mark in the hearts and feelings of the people of the world, this is how a Sanctuary was built whose main objective was to keep perpetually exposed the Blessed Sacrament, this in order to maintain a perennial prayer that allows the intersection of God for the forgiveness of the sins of those attending the enclosure and the whole world.

>### **Un Tesoro de la Arquitectura Caraqueña**

>El Santuario Nacional Expiatorio de las Siervas del Santísimo Sacramento en Caracas, fue inaugurado por completo en el año 1948, en medio de una época en donde los vestigios de la Segunda Guerra Mundial habían trastocado a todo el orden global, lo cual había obligado a un reacomodo en la forma de relacionarse y entenderse a nivel internacional, por supuesto todo estos acontecimientos dejaron una huella imborrable en el corazón y el sentir de los pueblos del mundo, es así como se levanta un Santuario cuyo objetivo principal era mantener de forma perpetua expuesto al Santísimo Sacramento, esto con la finalidad de mantener una oración perenne que permita la intersección de Dios para el perdón de los pecados de los asistentes al recinto y del mundo entero.

A few blocks from the center of the city of Caracas is this striking neo-Gothic style temple, which is considered a true exception in the surrounding architecture, it is worth noting that in the city there are very few pieces that represent this artistic style, this being one of the most outstanding, thanks to its robustness, perfection and excellent combination of light and dark, which generate an internal environment and an external appearance that are truly unique.

>A pocas cuadras del centro de la ciudad de Caracas se encuentra este llamativo templo de estilo neogótico, el cual se considera una verdadera excepción en la arquitectura circundante, valga acotar que en la ciudad existen muy pocas piezas que representen a este estilo artístico, siendo esta una de las que más sobresale, gracias a su robustez, perfección y excelente combinación de claros y oscuros, los cuales generan un ambiente interno y una apariencia externa que son realmente únicas.

This church is located a few blocks from the Plaza La Concordia, in a sector that seems to have stagnated in time, because when we look around we can find buildings that by their physical characteristics is not easy to notice that date from the 40s or 50s, I would even dare to say that there are a large number of other houses and small buildings that could be even older, This creates a totally different atmosphere within the capital, which gives us the opportunity to imagine a little of what the city would be like in the first half of the last century, it is a somewhat nostalgic experience and to some extent difficult to understand, but at the same time is part of the many facets that gives us a city as diverse as Caracas.

>Esta iglesia se encuentra a pocas cuadras de la plaza la Concordia, en un sector que pareciera haberse estancado en el tiempo, ya que cuando miramos a nuestro alrededor podemos encontrar edificaciones que por sus características físicas no es fácil notar que datan de los años 40 o 50, incluso me atrevería a decir que hay un gran número de otras casonas y pequeños edificios que pudieran ser aún más viejos, lo cual genera un ambiente totalmente distinto dentro de la capital, lo cual nos brinda la oportunidad de imaginarnos un poco cómo sería aquella ciudad de la primera mitad del siglo pasado, se trata de una experiencia un poco nostálgica y hasta cierto punto difícil de entender, pero al mismo tiempo es parte de las múltiples facetas que nos regala una ciudad tan diversa como Caracas.
