**Hello everyone**
How are you today ? I pray that all of us are always given health and happiness in living this life. I also believe and hope that all members of the HiveGarden Community will always be in a state of enthusiasm and always enthusiastic about going through the day. In Indonesia, we are currently in a state of mourning. Maybe, friends, you have heard the news about the Kanjuruhan Malang Tragedy in Indonesia, the tragedy about the death of hundreds of football supporters due to the poor handling of the chaotic situation by the security forces. Let us pray that the bereaved family will be given strength to face this tragedy.

Back to topic. Every week I always try to continue to participate in this community by sharing stories about my activities in my hydroponic garden. At the beginning of this October, for the past week there has been an anomaly in the weather in my city and the location of my hydroponic garden. Every morning towards noon, the weather is very hot and the sun is shining very hot. In the afternoon, the weather turned very drastic, cloudy and raining very heavily. So, does this changing weather affect the condition of the vegetables in my hydroponic garden? keep reading my post.

![1664799807421.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/23zbRadqxoPAJZDX9TrpkUKsDCcHPegxhVLnAgwpBXMMePGV7jotTSJjCdsLTZxFvtqp7.jpg)

In my hydroponic garden, I made several iron shelves as a place to put my hydroponic media. I use a lot of used imported fruit stryfoam and modify it so that it can be used properly. To prevent and minimize rainwater into the hydroponic media, I also assembled a transparent roof using UV plastic material. However, rain water can still wet my vegetables, especially if the rain that falls is accompanied by strong winds. So ? what happened ?

-----
-----
**Conditions and Development of Hydroponic Pakchoy**
Let's start with the condition of the pakchoy in my hydroponic garden. Pakchoy is the vegetable that makes up the majority of what I grow in my hydroponic garden. In total, about 60% of the vegetables I grow in my hydroponic installation are pakchoy. These vegetables are excellent for hydroponic farmers. How can it be like that ? the reason is simple, pakchoy is easy to grow, easy to care for and the price is also very good if grown for commercial purposes. One more thing, pakchoy also has a beautiful shape and texture if our hydroponic installation functions as a garden decoration in our home.

![1664799807096.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/23tSYHiWafzLtVPSLLhU8vq7poWDjf6jAqCpmeQvfZmjXbN191427QEAEcZkaaRDx9JvW.jpg)
![1664799807275.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/23wWwKVsXugiabVcjfEEezk5DvZMs7STnun3UN58VFHwaHc6qa7azaPWTTF1trrPwYLNJ.jpg)

I have several pakchoy of different growing ages in my hydroponic garden. The photos above are pakchoy which is 19 days old after seeding. I have about 400 pots of packhoy that are about the same age. This pakchoy grew well and optimally, almost all of them seemed to grow uniformly and none of the pakchoy experienced slow growth. I use hydroponic liquid fertilizer with a concentration of 1200-1300 ppm, but the frequent rains at night make the fertilizer concentration sometimes drop to 1000-1100 ppm, but still in accordance with the nutritional requirements of pakchoy.

Next, we see pakchoy which is still around 12 days after sowing. I just transferred the pakchoy seeds to hydroponic media and all these vegetables are growing very well and optimally. One thing that annoyed me, about 24 pots of my pakchoy had a rat attack. Rats eat this vegetable and leave only the stems, very annoying.

![1664799807584.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/23vi6BoQUTD4GeFx8VAEhu55TSbPWGyKoM69337jtTk5LVmkSy2HscKvS7kBnrK9KC5P1.jpg)
![1664799807553.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/23uFa5GhDSE7cr686GBX9CPDXPoKDjTdnfzgDtFEihk6HhvnY3rNTzx6pxh459hYcQbhv.jpg)
*Mice Attacks in Pakchoy*

I planted about 250 pots of pakchoy in this planting period, in total I have about 650 pots of only pakhcoy. I also used the same ppm concentration in this pakchoy, starting at 1200-1300 ppm and decreasing to 1000-1100 ppm. Rain does reduce the concentration and concentration of the fertilizer solution in the media, but sometimes rain water also carries minerals needed by vegetables, so whatever happens, you must still be grateful.

-----
-----
**Hydroponic Lettuce**
Next, I brought my friends to see the condition of the lettuce that I planted in my hydroponic media. Just like packhoy, I also have lettuce with two different growing ages. The difference in planting age in hydroponic media is what I planned. First, I want to make a proper vegetable growing cycle, so that every vegetable is always available every week. Second, I set it like that so it won't be too difficult if you harvest at the same time.

![1664799806981.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/23wCBsKYoNohPrHdewxRdTZRsaJpciKgFsZRa4i1RPusBYaLRvPSbnxEPbaUaBqDVhju6.jpg)
![1664799807013.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/23xei6xRVyVqdUSobbLE9wyLXWMJqmT3nZohr4rXUdQ5ju1eu9qW2JGYagwGygihszu6h.jpg)
***Is this lettuce eligible to take part in [The One And Only Garden Journal Challenge: October 1 ?](https://ecency.com/hive-140635/@riverflows/the-one-and-only-garden-journal-challenge-october-1)***

What do you think about the lettuce photo above? looks very fresh, doesn't it? This lettuce is of the Grand Rapids type, which is a popular lettuce grown in Indonesia. Grand Rapids Lettuce has characteristics such as curly green leaves and grows faster. This lettuce is about 30 days old after sowing, meaning that this lettuce can be harvested if we want to harvest it. Ideally, lettuce is harvested at the age of 40-45 days after sowing because at that time, the lettuce will get the right weight. However, the taste of the lettuce will be reduced because it is more bitter.

![1664799807321.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/23wgPvRiFairXwrMdGL3ZPEKL3xCTpkVYHcyuCXcaQMydJt3LeTKJymrwMaeL7TFiPTB7.jpg)
![1664799807052.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/23tvoD9fFPwDey9PgaFyGwwzyKxnaVqiUxGrUMfqNYyEwMPgRTcg276UTkVHFbCpXD5kC.jpg)

This week, I also transferred some lettuce seeds to the growing medium. These small lettuce, aged about 12 days after sowing. I use a liquid fertilizer solution with a concentration of around 600-700 ppm and everything grows well and optimally. One thing I like about growing lettuce, is that this vegetable is rarely attacked by pests so that almost no lettuce leaves are damaged.

-----
-----
** Hydroponic Kangkong **
Who knows Kangkong? This vegetable is popular in several Asian countries, because it tastes delicious, is easy to cook, and is very cheap. Kangkong is a favorite vegetable choice for mothers in Indonesia to make cheap and delicious dishes. I have kangkong with two different growing ages in my hydroponic garden.

![1664799807474.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/23uFPdpiidUtLhJQQPjx46GPvVh7BAy7pfJWBZSwa6YeNyhf1PymmjjA7JJzyJGtNMKvU.jpg)
![1664799807448.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/23uQrDqgCbR1bPkQ82HyymE3PN9kapy93X58QpRTgL8Aa7SVcpW9fAaLTHhokpZyMKiEV.jpg)

First, the Kangkong above is a kangkong with an age of about 14 days after seeding. If friends compare with last week, the condition of this kangkong is already very high and growing very optimally. According to my father, this kangkong will grow better if it gets rain water directly, therefore, the shelves for my hydroponic kangkong media do not use a roof so that the rain can wet these vegetables.

![1664799807501.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/23uFVqzeGWte1KMckvo1jq6UXYhQaGTrtsaCcHq2GNb6DCdX8otVfSdszES1KzjbV895Q.jpg)
In addition, I also have kangkong with a planting age of about 7 days, I just transferred these kangkong seeds from the seedling tray to my hydroponic media. For this planting period, I used a liquid fertilizer solution with a concentration of about 1000 ppm.

Last week, I cleaned my hydroponic plumbing installation. In that installation, I usually plant mint leaves and this week, all of these hydroponic installations can be reused. The mint leaves that I planted in this hydroponic installation are also growing very fertile and it seems that I can harvest them again.

Okay guys, thanks for reading my weekly hydroponic journal. Hopefully it can inspire and be useful for all of my friends. See you next week.

I'm feeling kind of jealous with this one, but it does look pretty cool. I've never done hydroponics, but I would love to try it out sometime.

hello @riverflows thank you stopping by
it's so true, so sad, tragic and also shameful. Moreover, this tragedy is due to the police's fault in handling and reading the chaos situation. To be honest, as a football supporter I still feel that pain.

thank you, I try to keep writing about hydroponics consistently, hopefully many people will be inspired and get ideas.

Greetings my friend, I will pray for the affected families. About your hydroponic garden I wish you good harvest in spite of the rain, it is good but not extreme for some plants. I did not know the pakchoy nor the kangkong, because I am not from Asia, but I like to know new things. I congratulate you my friend for your planting.

hello @sorprendente thank you for stopping by
Yup, rain in the tropics is like a blessing that makes plants more fertile and good. I'm lucky to live in a tropical country so I can grow vegetables all year round without having to worry about winter coming.

I am very happy, to be able to provide new information and also introduce some vegetables that are popularly eaten by Asians to the world community. Last year, I almost made a collaboration with an Italian restaurant in my city, he wanted me to grow Aragula for his restaurant needs, unfortunately I couldn't find the right way to grow the plant so that collaboration didn't happen.
