My harvesting of banana plants

Hello dear friends, I hope you are doing very well, and better yet, that your vegetable gardens are too.

I know that there are quite intriguing things happening worldwide in relation to the weather, from floods, to droughts, and even new pests that are affecting our orchards, so I wish you all the best.

Well, I want to share a little piece of my happiness, and it is nothing more than being able to harvest my first bunch of bananas, one that I have been looking forward to for the whole year that I waited for it to grow.

![IMG_20220922_150433_273.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ismaelrd04/Eokc6tJLy2TRgF6vyBXacbNP5EqbpERBZbWtVH9vYAuYPMoTNdhRdQDCTfPZPSQ5A8h.jpg)

Wherever you see it, this cluster could bear fruit of 27 individual bananas, and each one of them, weighing approximately 300 gr each, being the one of 350gr, the one of greater weight and volume at the same time.

Well, during the whole year, this plant enjoyed a very special care, although it was one of the 3 that I had already planted, but, in this one I dedicated myself a little more, since, the land where it was, promised a little more, while the others, the surface where I planted them, were not at all good.

![IMG_20220922_150449_618.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ismaelrd04/EoeFuHQZzeYzskckhEL1KZN1D8VRxFKp6hMLsRXS9mtUj48FozxL7SKckw3Z3rteK7z.jpg)

When it was time to cut, I only measured halfway through the plant, an accurate cut so that it would fall little by little.

In addition, I even liked the way the offspring, also known as sprouts, shoots or simply offshoots, developed.

Maybe that's one of the reasons why I like this variety of bananas, as a single plant can give up to 6 seeds to follow.

![IMG_20220922_150547_921.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ismaelrd04/23wMcWmC5LWPDyVMiMR2gpMXeJQNxZib7PacpaRhTdAaDdpuyvGoW6nxkgC9vGho46w79.jpg)

I have seen people put the bunches on their shoulder and then cut it, but, I have also seen that when they fall, they can cause harm to the person underneath it.

That is why I have simply preferred to do it this way, as it is more practical and less dangerous.

In fact, the only move I had to make to lower this cluster was to make the cut with the cutting tool.

![IMG_20220922_150726_752.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ismaelrd04/23uFXnHvMHW9gEiDBRHZUoawHJ1PNX3pKa2Wshny67ds4XyEG566LG4f5VCNFJMt1PR5W.jpg)

Once in the ground, then it is very easy to cut the bunch, as shown in the picture below:

![IMG_20220922_150703_829.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ismaelrd04/23wCBY13phZ3vjhsfszcfuctiJkf1FKzYzNUGGBoSCb4BbWg1Na9RSyf8QJ8zGVKTxXn3.jpg)

And here it is:

Well, I felt happy, joyful, blissful, and moreover, fulfilled. As I said at the beginning, it is the first bunch that I have harvested from my own hand, and which I took care of as if it were practically a son.

Of course, I could have left this bunch at least a couple of weeks more, but there have been some accidents related to robberies near where I live, and I did not want to expose myself, it would have been something I could not bear.

![IMG_20220922_150939_137.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ismaelrd04/23tvkxPkUeJzLhdr2AC6tM4WAGixdeGmSRSDs1ahih1RUu2U1Nfz3AMa95sgT2iZyU6ER.jpg)

Here is a tip after cutting the bunch and the plant.

I suggest that when cutting the plant, do not pull out the root, or cut it too low, as this would not be so beneficial for the new seeds that will grow after this. Therefore, it is necessary to let this stalk even rot there in that place.

This plant is very rich in potassium, and as such, the plant needs this component for the whole plant to grow healthy and strong.

What is the benefit of leaving this stem there? For one thing, it will supply the plant with organic fertilizer, so we won't have to pay anything for it.

It can also give support to the new plants that are growing on the same vine.

Strain is the name given to the set where all the seeds of the banana plant grow.

And in addition, the other side of the plant that we have already cut, we can cut it into squares and use it as fertilizer for other plants in the garden.

![IMG_20220922_150931_641.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ismaelrd04/23wMckr4haRVYsi74GA87kMj7ZKVBAc2enpKyqD3wpwtPyNCM1XXHUUk5jgESeRMFrYKz.jpg)

And here it is. My dear bunch.

I thought about enjoying it alone, but you wouldn't be wise, so I shared it with some friends, my dad and my mom.

So I was infinitely happy. Also, I will soon start transplanting the offspring of this plant, and I will show you the process for sure.

Do you have any of these plants in your garden? Tell me how you have taken care of them, how are you doing, if you need to know anything, how to fertilize, or anything else, leave me a comment and I will answer you for sure.

![IMG_20220922_150733_340.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ismaelrd04/23u67GQLvsk2fadBnphhA5rNrt4JtKiT8z1FWWnf3iJigyi5TjqGbkjHZpLNqXtcwafpD.jpg)

I hope you are wonderful, I leave you a hug.
