Once I read all the books by Allen Carr, with which he quit drinking alcohol and Smoking. Moreover, I lost weight by 18 kg per code and wrote a whole book about it, although I used to lead a wrong lifestyle and was a very fat person. And when I read these books, I found the expression “Brainwashing” very cute, which Allen Carr loved to use in his manuals.
# What is it?
So, brainwashing is blind faith in a particular information that has not been tested in practice and did not lend itself to critical evaluation. The simplest example can be given with Smoking: a person sees parents with a cigarette since childhood, notices people Smoking on the street and even a wolf smokes in the famous cartoon “well, wait!" At the same time, the child constantly hears from parents that Smoking is harmful and if he is seen with a cigarette, then this teenager is waiting for punishment.
But, as they say, we believe in what we see, not what we hear. If you doubt this, then gather a few people and ask them that they do not think for a second, fulfill your request. Then lift your thumb and tell everyone at the same time: - " Lift your index finger!”
More than 80% of people will lift their thumb because they saw what you did. This explains the fact that words have little force in comparison to actions. That is why children continue to smoke. In other words, they were thoroughly brainwashed by the fact that they included cartoons “well, wait” and smoked with the child.
That is, it seems to be harmful to smoke, and cigarettes do not give any pleasure in principle, but because of brainwashing, their availability and nicotine dependence, people still smoke. Everything else is excuses smokers. For example, that they like the process of lighting, inhaling smoke, that they eliminate cigarette boredom. But a non-smoker doesn't need all that, does he?
