Waiting for your Bitcoin Confirmations ???

Ok so....I tried sending $71 of bitcoin today and still have 0 confirmations!!!
I was rather ticked off about this till i found out I wasnt the only one waiting... Check out the number of transactions waiting to be confirmed....Its going through the roof!!! what is going on!!! If someone can give me an explanation it would be nice :D thanks

Yea I understand the fees but it is curious that the number of transactions waiting shot up today isnt it?

Not really. "Stress tests" and spam attacks have been frequent. The transaction spam spike was also pointed out on bitcointalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.msg16694057#msg16694057
