Today, I started my library shift early due to extra setup for special events. This also meant we had double our usual Saturday door count at the end of the day. Yay!

First, we had a local trio of musicians performing old-time folk music on our front lawn, so we needed to set up a canopy, chairs, and an extension cord. They supplied their own microphones and speakers for vocals and instruments. They had a guitar, a mandolin, and an upright bass. The guitarist sang lead, and the others sang harmony.

Then, immediately following the concert, I had a new Dungeons and Dragons adventure to run in our meeting room. I had three new players and three veterans from my pre-COVID campaign. I launched the adventure [I outlined earlier,](https://peakd.com/games/@jacobtothe/survival-island-a-dungeons-and-dragons-5e-scenario-draft) and they managed to avoid the worst shipwreck outcomes.

The encounter tables dictated that the ranger scouting the forest met a pair of dryads who warned against harm to their domain, and then their foray exploring the shore was interrupted by an attack from *fifteen* sahuagin. They wisely chose retreat and set up a hasty defense back at camp with support from the crew. All of these NPCs had survived thanks to the party's successes during my shipwreck challenges. Alas, two nameless sailors succumbed to wounds in the combat, and one party member was knocked unconscious. I also had to hastily choose some stat blocks for the crew members I had named and described, so keep an eye out for an update with an island map, ship information, and some ideas for where the story might go. Looks like we're on again for regular games!
