The camping trip is done... for now.

I awoke rather early this morning. Despite an interrupted night, I felt mostly refreshed. The neighboring campsites blasting pop music didn't prevent rest. Neither did the squalling kids, the shouting parents, or drunken revelers. I do remember on a few occasions idly noting the passage of the moon over my tent in moments of wakefullness before drifting off to sleep again.

I was the first awake in my party, so I started a fire, put the kettle on to boil, and started packing up my stuff. The borrowed tent was a somewhat bothersome affair. I have a new tent ordered for myself already. But this one still served adequately.

I am also pleased to report no noticeable leakage of my air mattress over two nights. Pleasant surprise, that, based on my experience with air mattresses on much more forgiving surfaces than the tent floor immediately above the hard-packed dirt forest floor.

Before leaving, we played a game of off-brand giant Jenga. We managed to build so high and use so many pieces that it was a matter of structural impossibility, and not clumsiness, that doomed our design. I removed and stacked the last possible piece before catastrophic structural failure was the only option left.

The drive home was uneventful, and a proper warm shower took care of the grime that seemed to have settled everywhere. Laundry has been washed now. Just a few changes will need to be made for next time. A lot of dead weight can be left behind, and a few useful items will be added. A potholder and a spatula are both essential mess kit additions.
