Mantic infantry are typically designed with an approximately 10mm circular base molded into the miniature. This is designed to plug into their square bases, which have a corresponding approximately 10mm socket. The bases are made by Renedra in England, a company that molds a lot of plastic products for a lot of companies, and does a good job. I had some spares on hand, so I am prepared to assemble the models from the Undead Encounters set even though it did not include bases.

Just use some clippers to trim out the bases, and a file or hobby knife to trim any flash or burrs from them afterward. I already primed the models in my [last post,](https://steemit.com/games/@jacobtothe/undead-encounters-part-5-a-primer-on-primer) so I used a file to rough up the bottom of the models and ensured some plastic-to-plastic glue adhesion to the base  was possible.

Now the bases offer something to hold while I paint, and I will add sand and paint to the bases later as a separate step. Since the weather is too nasty to do anything else thanks to all the smoke in the air, I will probably finally get to some painting after work. I am also not concerned with priming these bases, so that is why I waited until now for this step. Usually, I would have the models based before priming, but these are an experiment, so why not see what happens when I mix it up a bit?
