# How To Add More Value To Steemit ?

When you buy Steem from the exchange in the wallet section of steemit, you don't add value to the block chain. The steem that is already there just circulates through the block chain. When you buy Steem from an exchange like Bittrex, you add value to the Steem as a currency. 

The more value Steem have on the exchange  platform, the more value our accounts have and the more money you have in your pocket.

Now is the time to power up your accounts and invest in Steemit !

# So how do we add value ? 

If you write a post and the payout is $10 on steemit, 25 % of that amount go to the curators who upvoted and commented on your post. You get the remaining $7.50 . 

From that $7.50, you get $3.75 paid out in Steem dollars and the other $3.75 gets paid out in Steem Power . So let's review how much money did we make from an $10 post . 

>1 Steem dollar = $9.73
1 Steem = $3.35
At the time of writing this post

* $3.75 x $9.73 = $36.48 - US dollars
* $3.75 / $3.35 = 1.119 - Steem Power, that gets credited to your account

So we have $36.48 US dollars , if you divide that $36.48 in two , you get $18.24 . Take one of the $18.24 and buy Steem on Bittrex and you can cash the other $18.24 out . 
* $18.24/$3.35 = 5.444 - Steem 
* 5.444 + 1.119 = 6.563 - Steem Power
* $18.24 - US dollars cash
* 6.563 x $3.35 = $21.98 - US dollars

From one $10 post , you can get $18.24 in cash and add 6.563 Steem Power to your account. That is a wonderful way to add value to Steemit and have a bit of extra cash to spend.
