He makes some of the most atmospheric music, sort of like Radiohead but with less experimentation in noise. I think *In Absentia* is one of those albums with amazing flow and progression from one song to the next. I also heard him say in one of his concerts that "sad songs are often the most beautiful* and I definitely agree. I'm not a very emotional person in general but have felt touched by music, his included.

Yeah man.. Blackest Eyes! What a song to start the album with. Then it just flows on from there. He is still making Albums like how they are supposed to be made. I recently saw him live in Los Angeles. One of the best concerts of my life. He played for 3 fucking hours! For the first part of the show he just played Hand. Cannot. Erase. The whole album. Top to bottom. What a great great man. :)

And about the album name, Steven said: "It comes from... It's related to some of the lyrics. It's about people on the fringes, on the edges of humanity and society. I have an interest in serial killers, child molesters, and wife beaters... Not in what they did, but in the psychology of why. What caused them to become unhinged and twisted? Why are they unable to empathize? It's [In Absentia] sort of a metaphor - there's something missing, a black hole, a cancer in their soul. It's an absence in the soul."
