Today I am going to talk about something pretty relevant with the previews post. Most people don't know the big role sleeping plays in our health, I'll be listing below the benefits and impact of sleep deprivation on our health. ## Benefits of Sleeping * It revitalizes your tired body and mind. * It helps promote proper brain function. * It helps you to learn/memorize things better. * It helps build up your immune system. ###### *These are only few of the many healthy benefits you can get from sleeping.* ## Impacts of Sleep Deprivation or Lack of sleep * Bad temper/irritable. * Memory loss or forgetfulness. There are many factors on how gadgets can affect a person's sleeping pattern, but there are mainly two factors that are involved, actually these factors can both be found inside our very own bodies. You guessed it right, these two factors are hormones. > Hormones are chemical substances that act like messenger molecules inside the body. After being made in one part of the body, they travel to other parts where they help control how cells and organs do their work. The two hormones that are known to affect sleeping patterns are _**Melatonin**_ and _**Dopamine**_. And how does a single piece of electronic device affects something inside our body? Here's how. Electronics gadgets that has screens or emits *blue light*(cellphones, T.V., laptops, tablets etc.) can suppress *melatonins* inside our body, melatonin is the hormone that helps you fall asleep and stay asleep, if these hormones are suppressed, you find it hard to fall asleep, making you wide awake until the next morning, you'll feel the effects few minutes after you take your face off the blue light. Another effect of gadgets is, while using gadgets your brain secretes *dopamine* also known as pleasure hormones or happy hormones. observe yourself, once you're using your phone or tablet you get this happy, content and sometimes pleasurable feeling, that's dopamine at work right there. A good way to avoid sleep deprivation caused by gadgets is by ridding your or your child's room with electronic gadgets, or making your rooms *gadgets free zone*(yes including TV!). That's right make your room a _**non melatonin-suppressing, dopamine-producing zone**_ ! This will help you avoid using gadgets before hitting the hay, and helps promote long and quiet sleep(*imagine, no alarms blaring, or text notifications, calls in the 3 am*). Take a nice warm(or cold if you prefer being cooled) bath after a tiresome day at work or school, it helps your body to _**cool down**_ and releases stress. I seem to never get a full nights sleep. I'm up every 1-4 hours for a CR break. (That's restroom for all of you not familiar with the Filipino term).

Part of my problem is my medication for gout and high blood pressure. It is meant for me to urinate. The effects last all day and I'm supposed to take the medication every 24 hours. See the problem?

There is a lot of people who use their phones to try to fall asleep and end up staying awake longer. The blue screen actually makes us feel awake, tricking our bodies and reading content or a video does not help either hahha.

So technically, the *"blue screen of death"* doesn't only apply to screens(computer screens mostly), it also applies to humans. Staring too much on the blue screen will eventually bring death.
