<div class="text-justify">A medida que vamos haciendo reseñas por cuestión de lógica van quedando menos libros de que hablar y está pasando con los ejemplares de John Katzenbach los cuales ya se han hecho una prácticamente una rutina por mi blog, de hecho creo que me quedan 2 o 3, la verdad no estoy seguro. Sea como sea no dejaremos de hablar de ellos y es por eso que hoy estoy con otro de sus títulos.</div>

> As we are doing reviews as a matter of logic there are less books left to talk about and it is happening with John Katzenbach's books which have become a routine in my blog, in fact I think I have 2 or 3 left, I'm not sure. Be that as it may we will not stop talking about them and that is why today I am with another of his titles.

<div class="text-justify">Todos los libros de Katzenbach siempre son en torno a la misma temática que no es otra que asesinatos, persecuciones, intriga y mucho terror psicológico y con La Sombra claramente no habrá excepción a esa regla. Vamos entonces a ver que nos trae este enigmático personaje el día de hoy.</div>

> All of Katzenbach's books always revolve around the same theme, which is none other than murder, chases, intrigue and a lot of psychological terror, and with The Shadow there will clearly be no exception to that rule. So let's see what this enigmatic character brings us today.

<div class="text-justify">Para dar contexto a esta historia hay que trasladarse al Berlín del año 1943 donde existía un hombre al que nadie conocía, nadie le había visto la cara y por tanto nadie sabía como era, solo se sabía que era conocido como "Der Schattenmann" o La Sombra. Pero, quien era él? - pues un judío sin alma y sumamente maligno cuyo trabajo era delatar a los de su propia sangre con la Gestapo, porque si, él colaboraba con este cuerpo opresor.</div>

> To give context to this story we must move to Berlin in 1943 where there was a man who nobody knew, no one had seen his face and therefore no one knew what he looked like, it was only known that he was known as "Der Schattenmann" or "Der Schattenmann" or The Shadow. But who was he? - Well, he was a soulless and extremely evil Jew whose job was to inform on his own blood with the Gestapo, because yes, he collaborated with this oppressive body.

<div class="text-justify">Sophie, una sobreviviente del holocausto, cree y está convencida de haber visto un fantasma de ese pasado tan oscuro, La Sombra. Winter no sabe si creer en la palabra de la anciana y aparentemente no le da mucha importancia al asunto pero todo eso cambia a la mañana siguiente.</div>

> Sophie, a holocaust survivor, believes and is convinced that she has seen a ghost from that dark past, The Shadow. Winter doesn't know whether to take the old woman's word for it and apparently doesn't think much of it, but that all changes the next morning.

Era algo raro porque la residencia donde vivía era un lugar tranquilo que no tenía fama de que ocurrieran este tipo de atrocidades y menos a una anciana.</div>

> The next day and to everyone's surprise, this helpless old woman, after reporting what she saw, was found strangled with her eyes full of pure terror. It was something strange because the residence where she lived was a quiet place that was not known for this type of atrocities, especially not to an elderly woman.

<div class="text-justify">Para la policía de la ciudad de Miami todo parece indicar que es un asesinato más, uno más del montón pero Winter está convencido que no es así, de hecho es el único que sospecha de la existencia del exterminador de judíos y está más que convencido de que dicho asesino va a matar a todos los sobrevivientes del holocausto que viven en Miami.</div>

> For the police of the city of Miami everything seems to indicate that it is just another murder, one more of the pile but Winter is convinced that it is not so, in fact he is the only one who suspects the existence of the exterminator of Jews and is more than convinced that this murderer is going to kill all the survivors of the holocaust living in Miami.

Y es en ese preciso momento cuando nuestro ex policía sale del retiro para hacerle frente a esta maquina de matar y tratar de detenerlo antes de que sigan ocurriendo más hechos que lamentar.

## - Opinion. 

<div class="text-justify">Lo primero que hay que decir es que La Sombra es un thriller enteramente de acción porque a lo largo de sus páginas encontramos mucho suspenso psicológico acompañado de persecuciones para dar con la pista del asesino. Otra de las cosas que me gustaron es el preámbulo y el contexto histórico que Katzenbach da para así "entender" y saber de donde y porque este ser actúa como tal.</div>

> The first thing to say is that The Shadow is a thriller entirely of action because throughout its pages we find a lot of psychological suspense accompanied by chases to find the clue to the murderer. Another thing I liked is the preamble and the historical context that Katzenbach gives in order to "understand" and know where and why this being acts as such.

<div class="text-justify">EL libro no pretende dar una clase de historia universal ni mucho menos dar reflexiones de vida, el autor solo uso ciertos hechos como base y listo, creo que dan un poco más de sustento a la historia. Como siempre es una lectura muy rápida donde por momentos se estanca y se vuelve predecible pero en términos generales y como con todos los títulos de John Katzenbach es un libro que a medida que vas avanzando, más rápido lo quieres terminar.</div>

> The book does not pretend to give a class of universal history nor much less give reflections of life, the author only used certain facts as a basis and ready, I think they give a little more support to the story. As always it is a very fast read where at times it stagnates and becomes predictable but in general terms and as with all John Katzenbach's titles it is a book that as you go along, the faster you want to finish it.

<div class="text-justify">El personaje principal es la típica persona que llega a un momento de su vida donde no le importa nada y quien perdió todo el interés por vivir hasta que de la nada le cae del cielo una razón más para vivir y demostrar que todavía tiene mucho que ofrecer. Esos trasfondos en las personalidades y en la mente de los personajes de Katzenbach es sin duda uno de sus grandes sellos.</div> 

<p>

> The main character is the typical person who reaches a point in his life where he doesn't care about anything and who has lost all interest in living until out of nowhere one more reason to live falls from the sky and proves that he still has a lot to offer. These undertones in the personalities and in the minds of Katzenbach's characters is undoubtedly one of his great hallmarks.

<div class="text-justify">En fin, un libro que entretiene y que de seguro te va a mantener al vilo de las situaciones que se van a ir presentando a lo largo de sus páginas. Te lo recomiendo si eres amante de este tipo de historias, claramente; y sino también para que pruebes cosas nuevas.</div>

> Anyways, a book that entertains and that will surely keep you on the edge of your seat with the situations that will be presented throughout its pages. I recommend it if you are a lover of this type of stories, clearly; and if not, also to try new things.
