## Esta es *"Sisy"*, mi pequeña e indomable traviesa

Ella llego a nuestras vidas, cuando mi hijo tenia nueve (9) años, se la obsequie para su cumpleaños; era pequeña, frágil y muy tierna, con el paso de los años se ha convertido en indomable, no puede estar tranquila en un solo lugar. Dicen que los morrocoy y las tortugas son lentas, pues mi pequeña no lo es. Realmente ella fue la segunda adquisición, pues la primera murió a las pocas semanas, esto seria difícil para asumir por un niño de nueve años, por lo que la solución fue comprar otra. Para no crear ningún trauma en él, la escusa fue decirle que la llevaríamos al Veterinario, así el medico la examinaría y ayudaría con su enfermedad (cosa que no logramos pues murió, en el trayecto).

## Conozcamos un poco sobre el morrocoy o tortugas de tierra

Mi pequeña "Sisy", tiene en nuestro hogar actualmente 14 años, es un reptil hembra, una tortuga con patas rojas y amarrillas (especie de escamas, con uñas fuertes), caparazón con pintas amarrillas y abultamiento en cada figura o pinta (13), su cara se asemeja al loro con un pico fuerte, lengua de color violeta-grisáceo, posee cola gruesa, su abdomen es plano de color amarillento.

Es terrestre sin embargo le gusta el agua, come vegetales crudos, su preferido es ensalada de tomate con lechuga, repollo y hojas de espinaca, otros de sus alimentos es el arroz cocido sin sal, todo fruto o vegetal rojo e incluso las flores de cayena (aunque no son sus favoritas); en el termino científico son conocidas como *"Chelonoidis carbonaria"*, algunos le conocen como morrocoy, morrocoyo o morroco.

Le fascina el sol, aunque mi hogar no cuenta con espacio suficiente para sus paseos matutinos, cuando le permito salir de su lugar de hábitat, se posa al sol, estos animales suelen vivir muchos años de vida terrestre. 

Estos animales tiene un inmenso potencial de sobrevivir sin alimentos, gracias a su metabolismo lento, que permite almacenar reserva en su organismo, pero en lo particular he visto como ella se alimenta de su propio excremento para tener la fuerza necesaria de mantenerse con vida, también le gusta invernar, de algún modo, ella muchas veces cuando era mas joven se escondía y durabas días e incluso semanas sin salir, la buscábamos y no lográbamos encontrarla. Son animales longevos que pueden durar 100 años.

## El retorno a casa
