What I learned: Baptism as a commandment of God should be obeyed in the house of God. When Paul got converted, he was instructed to arise and be baptized. According to the Bible in Romans 12:9 we're charged to hold firmly to all that is good and disregard all that is evil. Christ was speaking of the church of God, not his own, when he declared, "I will build my church upon this rock." God is the one to whom all things belong. Currently, the gospel is being spread by a large number of people who have started their own churches, that is not proper. Some claim that churches are no longer necessary. However, this is false. God established the church to make known his wisdom and the church is instrumental to the salvation of man. According to Mark 7:7 of the Bible, many people worship God in vain because they teach for doctrines the commandments men. Therefore, if we continue to adhere to human customs, all of our good deeds on earth will be for nothing, regardless of how many we perform. According to Matthew 28:20, Jesus entrusted his apostles the task of baptizing individuals from all nations and instructing them to follow all of his commands. As a result, we must abide by all of Christ's directives. Our current period, which predates Moses', is the era of Christ. God the Father instructed Christ Jesus' followers to hear from him. This means that we should only pay attention to Christ Jesus and no one else. We shall learn things other than what Christ Jesus teaches from others who pay attention to us. Men's education would lead us to follow their traditions, which would result in damnation. Only our Lord Jesus Christ's teachings should be followed. A sign of repentance and joining the church is baptism. Because Christ taught about the church, we cannot accept Christ and reject the church that He preached. Romans 12:9 in the Bible instructs us to reject evil and cleave to righteousness. The goal of the church is to educate people about God's unfathomable wisdom as it is made manifest in Christ Jesus. Baptism serves the dual function of atoning for our sins and establishing our spiritual viability as a people who can approach God. Acts 22:16 records that when Paul first encountered Christ Jesus, he was told to get up and be baptized in order to have his sins washed away. Galatians 1:23 states that after being baptized, Paul joined the church of God and began preaching there. The Bible also says that those who heard the apostles' sermons were baptized in order to join the church. We can join because that is why the church was founded. The church is essential to a person's salvation. The purpose of the church is to spread the unfathomable wisdom of God. FORMER BELIEF: I didn't have any opposing believe regarding this teaching.
