February 2, 2020--Practice Blog

I forgot to get any pictures today. Which is too bad as I wore this vest from Historical Emporium today (picture from there website) with a yellow puff tie. It looked marvelous!

I started the day with church. My prelude was BWV 617 "Herr gott nun Schluess die Himmel Auf" from Orgelbuchlein which I recorded earlier this week for the secrets of organ playing. Postlude was Festival Piece on Nicaea by Jerry Westenkuehler. I played an Offertoire by Clement Loret for Offertory. I improvised on the "Thomas the Tank" theme for children's time and played about four pieces for Communion. Afterwards, my wife and I went to Texas Roadhouse for lunch. Not the most ideal place, but it had steak. Then, we went and picked up dogfood, wandered through Target looking for odds and ends, and stopped by the local gaming store to purchase a Dungeons and Dragon's Players Manual and dice (I get to start playing next week! I'm practically giddy!). We went to the school to take care of a couple things, then came home to finish up the day with preparation for classes, downloading of books, cleaning, laundry, and practicing. For dinner, we roasted a chicken with some roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts. The Super Bowl is today, but I couldn't care less. Watched the half time show and wanted to ask, "What do this women's children think about while watching their mothers perform like this?" I am getting old.....

Didn't practice much on the organ outside of church rep. On the piano, I made sure the first two movements of Beethoven's Op. 10 No. 2 were memorized and at speed. Worked on the third movement.
